Okay, so ive been dying my hair black for (my natural hair color light brown)  almost a year now and ive been wanting my hair a medium ash blonde with kinda platinum highlights.. i messed up, i dont like going to salons or have anyone else do my hair because it never comes out the way i want it(also i didnt want to bleach my hair because i dont want to damage it more) so i went ahead and dyed my hair blonde because it would suposably lighten it down little by little (yeah i dont know wht i was thinking) and my roots turned orange !! the top of my head was orange and the bottom was/is black. the next day i went to sallys and picked up color brilliance color corrector i got 3 because my hair is pretty long/thick and a medium ash blonde the lady told be that would get rid of the black color pigment and set it to my natural light brown. and guess what ?! it didnt work i dont know what to do my hair is still black and the orange is now a wee bit darker :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> please help ..

The color remover cannot remove the color from hair that has been bleached. When you use store bought kits to lighten your hair all you are really doing is bleaching then toning your hair. Your options at this point are to bleach your hair a bit more to remove the orange (your going for a straw yellow) and then use a toner to achive the ashe color you would like, or go to a salon. I have been bleaching my hair since march and one thing I have found that keeps my hair from frying is doing a coconut oil mask for 2+ hours before a bleach, then applying the bleach onto the coconut oil soaked hair. It does not effect how the bleach works but does help to protect your hair. Good luck!

Black hair dye is notoriously difficult to remove, even for stylists.  I was in this dilemma once upon a time.  I tried to bleach it out using the strongest lightener available at Sally Beauty Supply (Clairol Basic White mixed with 40 volume developer.)  In certain sections it did not lift at all and in other sections I was left with splotches of pink and purple.  And yes I applied the lightener evenly and very liberally.  I eventually had to go to a stylist and $250 later I was back to my natural medium brown although my hair was very damaged.  My advice to you is to stop trying to fix this on your own right now and go to a stylist.  Even then the results are going to be iffy.  In the future avoid black dye unless you are absolutely sure you want to commit to that color until you get the treated hair cut off.
