So two years ago I decided to get my sideburns hair removed with laser, and now I regret it so much because I ended up with more and thicker hair than what I originally had. It turned out that laser can trigger vellus hair to thicken, and I have had so many sessions, but it just won’t go away.

My question is has this happened to anyone else here? And I also want to know if those thick vellus hair will ever go away permanently or am I just wasting my money? I’ve read somewhere that this induced hair can never be removed by laser, but I read in some other places that it is possible with laser with a higher intensity. I don’t know what to believe anymore

just want to point out that the problem is that vellus hair which used to be so fine and wasn't even noticeble before has turned into more like a thick man's hair. Laser caused  vellus  hair to turn into terminal hair and now it's really visible and it grows really fast. All good salons refuces to use laser on vellus hair, but this stupid practioner i went to didn't know anything, she never said anything about vellus hair getting thicker because of laser.

I have never had laser hair removal or electrolises but I thought that it was permanent and would prevent regrowth by killing the hair follicle....

I would try waxing since its cheaper and laser removal isnt working. Or you can bleach it, thats probably what I would do. I know some ladies complain that in certain sunlight you can see the blonde hairs, but it is really not noticable to most, only viewable from certain angles, and everyone has it!

Sorry I don't have more advice.

I think you should try for another laser treatment of higher frequency as it seems that the laser treatment you previously underwent was of low intensity that rather than damaging the hair follicle only temporary stopped its growth and now the effect of that laser treatment has withered away. undergoing a laser treatment of higher intensity will definitely damage the hair follicle and prevents its growth.

I'd check what type of laser and how they had it set for your sessions.  Do some research on the different lasers(there are a lot of them) and find out what was used on you.  I have had stragglers in areas where I've had laser, but I also switched to electrolysis when an area was far along and I wasn't getting as much out of the laser treatments, and that killed them.  I very rarely get hairs to come back, but I just get zapped there once in a while (usually while I'm getting somewhere else done), time has lessened how many of those I get too.

If I were trying to get rid of hair like what you're talking about, I'd go to electrolysis now.
