Hi, what can you do to soften hard water, except of buying a water distiller which is expensieve for me! Any other option to soften hard water?

I really would like to know this, because hard water is to drying for my hair and scalp!!!

Let's see what other responses you get, but I do beleive there is nothing you can do about it other than installing a water softener. Sorry

There is nothing you can do about hard water as far as I a aware of. Just be sure to clarify your hair atleast once a week and use a good mositurizing conditioner. I know some talk has been about a shower head that has a filter in it to take out all the bad crap in your water, not sure if it has been done yet might want to look it up.

Good info Tiff! Yeah, you really can't do much about your water. But you can change your showerhead or your products to make it bearable. Or else move ? lol

OK guys, thanks for the responses!!! I think I have a waterallergie, i mean not the water itself but all the minerals in it. Oh and SmartStyle thanks for the websites.

Hey now that you have mentioned it I am actually planning to move, lol!!! But there the water is hard also, or I have to move really far here in the Netherlands to get softer water but that is no option

! And about changing the products, I have done it and because of that I know that it is the water which is drying my skin out and I dont even shower with hot water

water filters will do wonders for your hair if you have hard water! places like home depot sell many in the $19-$50 price range. if you look at their website and just search for shower filters, you will find many examples. but since there is no home depot in belgium, I'd either order online, or check at your local home improvement store. good luck!

Have you tried Oil of Olay's in shower moisture rinse? Its like conditioner for your body - keeps me smooth

Well I have not try this but it sounds good. Do you put it on and then rinse it off again? We do have Oil of Olay`s, but don`t know if we have this stuff. Sounds like you have to put it on before showering and then when you go shower it protects your body, am I warm here?

Maybe that some of the people who have said that hard water is not bad, dont know the difference between soft/hard water and because of that, they think that hard water is not harmfull. Because of, that hard water is not "bad" for some people they say, that people are selling water softeners for making money out of it and to make people think that hard water is bad, but I don`t think that this is true. See how many times I have use the words: because, that and maybe, hehe

I have very, very hard water. It was so bad that It felt like I never washed my hair (no lather!!) I found Ion Hard Water Shampoo and Conditoner love, love, love this stuff!!! You will notice that your hair gets better and better. I recommend getting both. You can use the shampoo and a body wash and in the bathtub as well!!!
