After a horrid hair hacking (love the alliteration?) I decided to get extensions to cover up the ugly short hair I got from a stylist gone wild. I love it (it's sewn into tracks rather than the individual strands), but am not 100% happy with the hair itself. It's European silky body wave. I just find it really hard to manage...it get's really tangled when wet and I have to constantly keep brushing it b/c it goes kind of poofy on the sides. It's also breaking a lot (after only 1 month!) and is kind of dry to the touch. The next time I go in I was thinking of buying and bringing my own hair. The question is, does anyone here know what kind would be best so that I can get straight, shiny hair that doesn't tangle? I was thinking of Bohyme Silky Straight. Any reputable websites to buy this hair from that you know of? Also, for those of you out there who do have extensions, how oftern do you wash them, and how do you keep your scalp clean in between washings? Thanks!

Janna

i'd love to try hair extensions sometime! sorry but i have no idea how to answer your questions!

Honestly I'm not too familiar with hair manufacturers... so I really don't know who to suggest. Maybe going to a local wig shop and seeing what they offer? Maybe some of the other girls on here who have them can reccomend a specific brand for you.

HI Shopaholic, i wouldlove to get some hair extension's also. Have you thought about using human hair? They say that's acually the best, but i am not sure myself.I hope you find the answer to your question.

Hi,

I have human hair extentions and they are sewn in in individual strands. I've had the track done before and it was way too heavy on my head and it got so itchy!! Needless to say I pulled them out after 2 weeks!

I wash my hair every 2 days and I don't think I've ever had any major tangles. Brush your hair BEFORE you wash it. Make sure you are conditioning with a good conditioner (I use Nexxus Humectress or Nexxus Keraphix or Herbalan Pack). After I wash it I spray it with a detangler as well. Also, do a good treatment every week or so if you can.

Are your extentions real or synthetic? Synthetic hair breaks or "melts" with heat.

Oh Oh I want extensions...I am just too nervouse on getting them since I dunno I am a punk....lol

I live in Toronto so I guess I won't be too good at giving recommendations for a stylist

I know how hard it is to trust someone to do that when your spending so much $$$. I got lucky and go to a stylist my friend found in the phonebook

She's really good. You could ask your current hairdresser if they know anyone, usually there's a good chance because they are in the industry-- they know or can recommend you to someone.

Its def worth the money! Its like an addiction though-- you get use to having so much hair in and when they come out and you see and remember what you really got your like

!! And of course then you go back for more extentions... and the cycles goes on and on...!!

I hear ya! This is the third time I've gotten extensions. I don't even want to think about how much time/money I've spent on my hair...but, it's worth it!
