Hi everyone, I have tape-in extensions and am having some really serious issues with them. I'm super careful with my hair - all sulfate/alcohol/silicone free products, no high heat when drying, no flat/curling iron. I had the first set about 2 weeks before they completely frizzed out and turned into on giant dread. My stylist removed them and reapplied a new set and followed up with a keratin treatment just to be sure it didn't happen again. Well, it's been 2 weeks for the new set and its happening again. I use keratin enriched products and sleep in a satin hair cap. I don't know what else to do to salvage the extensions. Love the method but I'm thinking the hair isn't as good of quality as the manufacturer claims it is. Any thoughts or advice? Im open to anything at this point! Thanks!

What brands are you using? Are the products meant for hair extensions or normal hair? Are the extensions human hair or synthetic?

Unfortunately, I do not know what brand they are. I neglected to ask my stylist what the name of the company is but I was told that they were 100% remy human hair extensions. I'm starting to feel like I got taken advantage of here...

So far, every product I've used has either been sulfate/silicone-free with added keratin or specifically made for human hair extensions. Nothing has seemed to help.

I've also done some research and found that sometimes companies use a coating of silicone over extensions that aren't of good quality to mask it and then sell them as Remy. I think that's what has happened to me.

I have tape extensions and mine have been great no problems with frizz. I have had to human remy (real human hair) applied. I use the S Factor smooth shampoo and conditioner to maintain them and then follow up with a leave in conditioner and if I'm going to use heat on them apply a heat protectant before styling, since starting to use the products I have notice that my extensions have been a lot more manageable and a lot more smooth.

Hi LovePink89,

Thanks so much for your input. I try to find these products over the weekend and hopefully they will help! Fingers crossed!

I think the problem is in the quality of your hair extensions...I suggest you buy them elsewhere. It's really the most important thing! It is true though that hair of good quality costs a lot. But you can re use it many times!

You are absolutely correct you should never comprise with the quality, I would recommend you buying Virgin Indian hair extensions, they have soft texture.
