Every since I had my son I have had dandruff!! I have never ever really had a problem with it so I have never had to address it!

Does anyone know of a really good Shampoo and Conditioner that would help with this? Now I have pretty thick hair (so I don't need volumizing), it's wavy, I use a straightener and frizzy-ish at times (so I prefer something with good moisturizing). Being the picky gal that I am...it has to smell good - I have this thing about my hair smelling good lol!

Any tips or tricks would be great as well! I have been rinsing out my hair in cooler water, something I learned from a hair dresser. Thanks everyone

Yes - I have heard that - but it's what my Dad uses and it freaks me out to smell like my Dad! HAHA

lol...u ever saw the adverisement for it? lol...u sound just like it. Actually there is a wide range of it...for different hair types i think. u could probably check their website. But what u could do it wash your hair with that first and then use ur regular shampoo afterwards.

Try Nexxus. Mane and tail does not give me any dandruf.

Don't use to many styling products at all. Clean your scalp and do not use conditoner on your scalp most importantly.

Most dandruff is caused by a disorder of the oil-secreting glands known as seborrhea. Read on for various steps you can take to reduce or eliminate this embarrassing condition.

Steps

1. Mix 8 tbsp. peanut oil with the juice of half a lemon. Rub the mixture into your hair, leave on for 10 minutes and then wash as usual.

2. Add 3 drops of tea tree oil, a natural antiseptic, to a small amount of shampoo and then wash your hair.

3. Rinse your hair with a solution of 1/4 c. vinegar and 1 qt. water.

4. Use an infusion of the herbs chaparral or thyme as a hair rinse.

5. Add flaxseed oil, primrose oil or fish oil to your diet.

6. Use kelp as a seasoning.

7. Take selenium, vitamin B complex, vitamin E and zinc supplements. Do not exceed 100mg of zinc a day.

8. Take vitamin C and a bioflavonoid complex.

9. Add lecithin granules or capsules to your diet.

10. Make at least 50 percent of your diet raw food.

11. Avoid or decrease your intake of fried foods, dairy products, sugar, chocolate and nuts.

K thats probably the best advice ever. But I just wanted to add in Head and shoulders is super good. I use it, works great. I get dandruff ever since I was on accutane and im off and still go it till I used Head and shoulders... and now no more

I agree with the head and shoulders. I used some of my freinds one time and it made my hair so clean and shiny. It smells really good!

Great advice Marisol! Head & Shoulders comes in various scents now I believe too though Alex... There's also Selsun Blue (sp?).... Neutrogena T-Gel is nice too!

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo can be good on dandruff, but I think their conditioner is uncesscary and doesn't smell as nice. They also have a hair and scalp treatment.

Ditto. This stuff is the best!

i had that same exact problem , while i was preggo and shortly after the birth. and i tried everything. from regular shampoo and cond. and the head and shoulder, selson blue, all of them. really you need to drink tons of water and head and shoulders works wonders. they have now ones with different smells , really you should just try it!

For some reason regular head and shoulders doesnt work for me, so I have to use intensive head and shoulders, the blue bottle. Works wonders

This is a great thread! I have had scalp problems my entire life. I think that you will probably have to try a few things to find out what works for you. I find that I have to alternate what I use every few weeks because it seems to lose its effectiveness after awhile.

Tea tree oil shampoo is one of my standbys. You can buy it premade or you can buy some tea tree oil and put it directly in your favorite shampoo. I also love the new Head and Shoulders because they come in lots of great scents and formulas. Selsun Blue has a revolting smell and it stripped my hair of color and gave it a grayish hue. It did work really well though. Neutrogena T-Gel also has a bit of a nasty smell but it does work. Nizoral did nothing for me. I stuck with it for a month and my scalp just kept getting worse and worse.

My regime is to alternate between Head and Shoulders and tea tree oil shampoo. Whenever I have really bad flare ups I will use Selsun Blue or Neutrogena T-Gel for about a week to get things back to normal and then resume my regular regime. HTH

Selsun Blue works good on some serious dandruff. But I don't particularly care for the smell; I like the revamped Head and Shoulders...they've got kinds for different hair types, I guess you could get the smoothing one since you're dealing with frizzies.
