grey to platinum white

Hi my mum is a strange grey/white naturally and has been colouring her hair light ash blonde for years, she has now decided that she doesn't want to have to keep colouring her hair and wants to go platinum white, will this be as simple as I am thinking with bleach and toners? You're on the money however because it's grey which implies to me her natural color is brown or black then it's going to be a little more tricky then breaking out the bleach as it may turn brassy. I would suggest doing a strand test on the back of her hair at the nape to see if will turn brassy and if it does then to test which toner would help tone that down.
