my bf ordered some differin cream for me through the net! i haven't been to a derm, but figured i would just try it since a lot of people use it and i don't want to pay $100 to see someone. lol.

for right now, i'll just dab it on spots that i have. I don't want to try it all over my face because they say things get worse before they get better. and i have an interview in a week (!) and don't want to be all broken out.

so i'll see how it goes and update

OMG, I was supposed to send you a sample. I'm so sorry!!!!
My suggestion is, just use it as spot treatment. If you use too much, it'll dry out your skin. But that stuff is amazing!

lol. it's ok. i wanted a full size and my bf ended up buying it for me. yay! hehe

My Derm. just prescribed Differin Cream for me too. I used it for the first time last night. Through my health insurance it was only $10! I am really excited and hope it works for my problem areas. She said I should have completely clear skin in about 2 months!!

I have used differin cream, so has my cousin. I didn't feel that there was a difference though- I mean my skin did get worse before it got better but I didn't really see that big a difference from before I started. As for my cousin, his got much worse(he's prone to the bigger sort of breakouts) before it got better. But I think he's since switch to something else coz it stopped working or something like that.

Hope yours work out for u though

Hope it works well for you Liz. My derm had me on clindagel..which really hasn't done much for me and next I hope I can try Differin(which is what I wanted in the first place).

i hope it works for you, liz

I love Differin! I use it to spot treat and it works AWESOME!!! You're gonna love it!

I have very oily skin prone to clogged pores (but not much true acne, which requires the presence of a certain bacteria) and used Differin for a year or two with Clindagel (also prescription). My dermatologist told me to use it all over my face every night as a preventative measure, and it never dried out my skin. (The only medication that's ever dried out my skin was 10% benzoyl peroxide creams -- but lower percentages of BP are fine.) It worked fairly well but I still had a few blemishes, so after a while my derm switched me to Tazorac and Clindagel and that worked the best!

However, I *think* that Differin and Tazorac have the same or similar active ingredients but I may be wrong...

By the way, I've tried many different acne medications over the years and have never had my face get worse before it got better .... if it got worse with a new product, it stayed worse! lol

i wanted to try differin buuuuut since i don't REALLY need it, it would of cost $100 plus dollars, sans insurance. So seeing that I barely have acne.... i haven't tried it, but I have heard so many good things about it! i clearly remember somebody calling differin "god"...

I use retin-A, at night, and Differin is said to be a gentler form of retin-A. It will make your skin much worse initially...Retin-A Micro is said to be the harshest, and I can't imagine anything stronger than the stuff I use now. Yikes. Two weeks into using it, I had thirteen big hard cystic zits on my face. Definitely follow the directions carefully since you're not seeing a derm. Using too much will make your problem worse, possibly scar your skin, and turn you off to the treatment. It really doesn't work well as a spot treatment, because the spots look even redder.

I use Differin and really never had a problem with it... I was on Accutane for 9 mos. and then as maintenance my doc put me on Differin every other night and I wash my face with a Glycolic Acid Cleanser and use a G.A. toner occasionally...

I use the Differin all over my face with no problems... My skin doesn't get too dry at all. In the morning I wash with my G.A. cleanser and use Cetaphil's SPF 15 moisturizer and I am good to go! I really haven't gotten any zits since I went off Accutane in Jan.

Oh and the nights I don't put Differin on I use Roc Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Cream. I know I don't have deep wrinkles, but it is a retinol product ad it makes my skin feel good...
