I am on a bit of a budget but I am in desperate need of a new exfoliator and face wash (exfoliator for 2-3 times a week) and a face wash for every night. I started using the St Ives face wash and exfoliator, the face wash totally ruined my skin but the exfoliator isn't that all bad, it hasn't ruined my skin but it defiantly hasn't made it any better. I was going to buy the dermalogica but it's expensive and I don't want to purchase it and it doesn't work great. I really need something that WORKS. please tell me the exfoliators and face washers you guys use that really work and make your skin feel smooth healthy clean and clear. I get oily and a bit of acne in my T-Zone so in between my eyebrows blackheads on nose pimples on chin and oil on the sides of my nose and chin and between my eyebrows. Recommend me some products, I have a little bit of sensitive skin but it isn't that bad! Thank you soooo much :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Why don't you try Clinique's stuff? I use their acne solutions 3 step but they have other 3 steps for dry, combination, oily etc. I have sensitive skin too and I like them because they're fragrance free. For just an exfoliator and face wash, it would probably be under $30, but for the whole 3-step program it's just under $50. I think it's worth it and, for high end cosmetics, pretty reasonably priced. Also, if you want to try before you buy, go to Sephora and ask them to make you samples, that's what I did initially.

I've warned people about St. Ives. I used it for years myself and found my beautiful skin ruined. I now have Rosacea but I can't be sure if it was due to St. Ives or if was after having my twins. I now use Bare Minerals exfoliating cleanser which is a powder. Costs about $26 through their site, QVC, Sephora and Ulta.

Thanks! I will try that although i live in australia and we don't have a sephora store down here which sucks! and they dont ship internationally so do you know other places that would give me a sample?

Hmm. i love st.ives but it's definitely NOT for sensitive skin. must be the salicylic acid that St.ives has.

I personally LOVE the new St.ives green tea scrub. it has 2% salicylic acid...which i dab on my pimples.

it kills the bacteria and helps them to heal/dry out faster.

You can find amazing products at etsy.com. I really liked sugar scrub with citrus and vitamins from 'healthy options of days gone by'

I tried REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (5 ml sample) 2 days ago and I myself have sensitive and acne prone skin. So far no reaction and my skin is smoother and feels nice. But this is like a mask so I'm not sure if you're interested in it and it costs £30.00 so it's expensive :/. It has "four-fruit-acid-complex (lactic, glycolic, tartaric and citric) and papain enzyme". I can't use exfoliators with beads because they irritate the hell out of my skin. Try to get a sample and see if you like it. Google for more info...btw I don't wanna sound like a spammer but you can get 10% off, if you order from their website ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />. They have several other exfoliators too but this one is their most popular and praised one.

I'm the same way. St. Ives makes my skin look and feel wonderful after a good scrub. I can see my sunspots fading each time. Now you've just added a new St. Ives product to my shopping list. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I LIVE-LIVE-LIVE for Befine's Brown Sugar facial wash an scrub. Inexpensive ($19.99 a tube but I found it MUCH cheaper on eBay) plus it is gentle enough to use EVERY DAY. Don't have to worry about what day of the week it is to see if you need to scrub or not. The brown sugar in the scrub "dissolves" as you use it so you don't over abuse your face.

You might be able to get some samples on eBay so you can see if you like it first. I've been using it for over 3 years now. I'll croak if they stop making it.

One face wash that I have particularly enjoyed is the Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Face wash.  It costs $8 USD and is the most gentle and functional face wash I have ever used.  It doesn't feel like much when you use it but it takes off all my makeup PLUS when I use nose strips, I barely get anything on the strips.

Another solution for cheap face wash and exfoliator is to use fruits and sugar.  My mom has been using fruit peels (banana, watermelon, canteloupe, papaya) for years.  Now that I think about it, it's more like a facial.  But she smooths the peels all over her face, leaves it there for a few min, and then washes it off.  For exfoliator, put some sugar on a piece of tomato and rub it all of over your face.  There are actually lots of recipes for natural exfoliators on the net.  Good luck!

For the longest time, I used the simplest cleanser/exfolliator around.

I bought--

1 jar of plain bananas baby food (small one)

1 jar of plain peaches baby food (small one)

heavy cream  (especially if your face gets dry)

brown sugar

Mix a tablespoon of each, with a 1/2 tsp of the brown sugar. Wash with it day or night. What's nice about the jarred baby foods instead of using fresh fruits is that the jarred kind have citric acid in them which helps to even out your face tone too.

FYI?  ONLY use Beech Nut baby foods, stage 1's. Gerber has other additives (like tuna oil?...ick) which can be funky. The purer the better!

I love the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Face Scrub. It is gentle yet effective. The price is around $7.
