i've been breaking out with white heads... it happens all the time during the 2 weeks before my period!!! GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH... what can i do?... tea tree oil helps but it gives me dry patches and i can't afford a glycolic exfoliator at the moment.

i think if it happens all the time, you can't really do anything about it. how about just a spot treatment, calamine lotion, etc.?

i've read that the best thing for whiteheads is exfoliating the dead skin cells. i get whiteheads all of the time, but i have cut them down tons by using an exfoliator daily. i use st. ives apricot scrub for oily/acne prone skin twice a day. this scrub is safe to use everyday, but most are only supposed to be used 1x week. also, you were right about glycolic products...they're GREAT for whiteheads.

Have u checked ebay ? a 6 week sample of glycolic is onli $5 including shipping.
Calamine (suggested by anne7 works realli well too). I agree about tea tree giving dry patches so what i do is use tea tree b4 bed. In the morning apply Vit E oil to dry patches. Wait for the oil to absorb into skin while surfing MuT... then put warm water on a clean wash cloth and rub the oil out. ....

if your skin is still dry. aspirin mask makes my skin feel sooo smooth. (3 tablets of uncoated apspirin, add a few drops of water to form a paste. Apply to face and wait for aspirin to dry then rinse off

I totally agree that exfoliating is the way to go, gets rid of all those nasty dead skin cells that clog the pores. I used to get looooads before my period, but I too exfoliate every day now and dont get anywhere near as many.

I have lots of info about acne in my notepad, just click the link in my signature... I am too lazy to type it all up here!

Though I do think that acne caused by hormones (the kind of acne that comes on a monthly schedule) is harder to treat than "regular" acne .... I've finally gotten to the point where my skin is pretty clear most of the month (yay!
