Frustrated with my hair...

I never know how to do my hair very well. For Christmas I got the Instyler and I can use it to straighten my hair but I can't use it to curl. I have no idea what my problem is but I just have a really hard time getting it to look smooth and nice. Could it be that my blow dryer is just a cheap blow dryer and it's frizzing out my hair? Should I try and straighten my hair first and then go back with my curling iron and curl it so it doesn't look a mess when I curl it? Any suggestions? I do put It's a 10 leave in conditioner in it and I use a heat protectant.

If you are using your dryer at close range on high heat then yes it could be damaging your hair.

Have you tried products to help smooth and hold curls? You can use something to keep the frizz down which can help frizzy or damaged hair. Lots of products can calm down hair while holding in new curls.
