Ok well I love using Dove soap on my skin, it's creamy, effective and doesnt aggravate my skin but I can't help feeling guilty for using soap (even though it's classed as a beauty bar!) just from what people are telling me and what I've read.

I know Dove is dermatologist recommended for face and body but I suppose until I hear it from a derm then I don't feel convinced.

Have these big companies successfully brainwashed me into thinking I have to spend money on a 'proper' cleanser?!

Will I do permanent damage to my skin like I'm being told? I've met so many old ladies who have used this bar to cleanse their faces since they were children and they have lovely skin!

Yeah you're probably right Broken!

I just feel overwhemled sometimes at the amount of products on the market each telling you that theirs is better than others - makes me run a mile straight back to the uncomplicated Dove! lol! Anyone else feel like this?

Ditto! x

I think Jennifer uses the Dove bar. I wish I could but it isn't enough for my skin but a ton of my friends use just the regular bar and have great skin. I wouldn't feel guilty but lucky! I mean soap is soap whether it has a big name brand on it or not, it is all basically a soap that is washing your face.

yep! i love and use this. i don't even bother with another cleanser. you already know that, though, vanessa LOL

unless it's making your skin feel tight or just not right at all, i think it's fine. i don't plan on changing mine. i've heard TONS of people using this with no bad things happening!

i don't think it's soap, though, because when i moved last month, i didn't have any dove, so i figured, "well, dove is a soap, so let me use this one sitting in the shower..." BAD MOVE because my skin was SO tight and dry and just YUCK. uncomfortable. i believe it was caress soap or irish springs. i don't even remember.

i wouldn't feel guilty, though. if it works for you, WHICH IT DOES SO STOP LOOKING FOR OTHER CLEANSERS (

), keep using it!

why switch if it works for your skin? lucky for you & jennifer...you found something that works for you! i'd stick with it.

Hey my mom used to cover her face in vaseline back in the day. No make up at all. She is 55 and just starting to look like she could be my mom. (She is now on my re9 line and it has done wonders to bringing her back to were she was. )

Use what you are comfortable with, but the companies are not the only ones doing the skin research showing you whats bad. Doctors are...and think about what moms looked like back in the day vs. today grandmas looking 16, ex. my mom and aunt.

I agree...if it ain't broke don't try to fix it.

I use dove too and the few times I strayed for more expensive skin care- I regretted it. Stick to what you know.

The Dove bar is pH neutral and soaps are always basic (pH>7) so I think of it as just a solidified cleanser, lol. I personally think too much of it (residue) gets left on my skin but i know it works well for many

I've used Dove off and on for years on my face and I just now have started using it again. I think it works great and as ArbonQueen said, If it ain't broke, don't fix it! LOL

If I could get away with it I would so use it.. I wouldn't worry about switching to something else, especially if Dove is really making your skin feel great.

oh my gosh I've only just read this lol! You're so funny Jen!!
I just posted another thread cos I've been using the Simple soap for a few weeks now and it's really helped but I've changed my BC now to a low dose so my skin will be needing the good cleansing of Dove as the Simple is extremely gentle.

Yeah Dove's a beauty bar not a soap and that's why it's so gentle to use on your skin, I mean if it's recommended for babies then it can't be that bad for your skin like all those money grabbing skin care companies lol!

Well, I have to say, there is no reason to feel guilty about using Dove. That's the only soap that has worked for my skin. If I could have all my money back that I have spent out there everytime I believed that a better product worked, I would be a millonaire right now. I have tried them all, and I have always came back to Dove, so don't worry........cheer up!

My dermatologist told me to use either plain old Dove soap or Cetaphil bar soap when washing my face

He said Dove is more moisturizing, but Cetaphil is good if you don't need the moisturizing effect... but both are good for acne-prone skin!

I just bought Doves new Cherry Blossom&Almond Oil cream oil bodywash and it smells and feels beautiful. The lather is so luxiourious.
