Hello, I need your opinions, as I'm pretty clueless when it comes to men's shaving! My brother uses an electronic shaver to remove his facial hair. When he's finished, his skin always looks red. Should he use something on his face before or after shaving? Thanks!

He should be sure to exfoliate often so that the skin is smooth. Then it´s really important that the shaver is sharp and the "thing" protecting the blades have to be completely without any damage. On most shavers you have to change the "head" almost every year.

Also bad shavers tend to do this, when they are not sharp enough you press it to hard against the skin witch irritates the skin. My BF had the fortune to find a cheap one that is good, but most of the times you have to spend a lot on the shaver. That shaver has done a huge improvement in his skin.

With some electric shavers you can use shaving cream, maybe that will help, but I think just using it on wet skin (without cream/foam) would irritate more.

Hi Tussan, thank you for your advice!

Do you happen to know what brand of shaver your BF has? I think my brother has a dry shaver with the 3 little round circles on top. Do you think he could use shaving cream with that kind? Thanks again!

My bf has one of the other kind, with only one shaving head, I think it´s a Phillips.

If his shaver isn´t safe to use in the shower or too clean under running water I wouldn´t dare to try it with shawing cream if the manual isn´t saying its ok.

Could it be that he has dry skin? dry skin is more easily irritated.

I think the most important is to make sure it´s a good quality shaver that hasn´t gone dull, and that he´s not pressing it too hard
