hey! i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this thread, but i was wondering if you guys could offer me some advice??

i have pretty thick eyebrows which are begining to look a bit overgrown. i tried getting them waxed about a year ago - and the woman completley stuffed them up - she made one straight and one arched. Anyway, since then ive been too scared to go back.

so anyways, what i'm basically asking is - is waxing worth it, or do these stuff ups occur quite often? should i just go to a more pricey place or should i learn how to do it myself even tho i suck at these sort of things.

thanks!

what you need to do when getting waxed- you need to find someone on the street whose eyebrows look amazing and ask where she gets hers done..

my number one advice for trying anything new.

people are really flattered by that too, so they are always willing to give up the info... also when you go, TELL the waxer that you saw her work and that's why you are going to her. she'll be more careful with you because she wont want to dissappoint you.

and then ASK how you are supposed to upkeep in between waxings.

THEN, it becomes worth it.

I do my own eyebrows because i dont trust getting them waxed. Ive done it sevreal times and i prefer to do them myself. I comb them up and trim them then i pluck the stray hairs and use browzings.

That's really one of the best pieces of advice. I've done that before when trying somewhere new to get my haircut or nails done, and it's always worked well.
You could also bring in pictures, or an eyebrow guide to give her an idea of what you want. Be detailed. Tell her what happened before, and that you deffinately don't want that happening again. Be clear about how thick or thin you want them. And remember, you can always take a little more off, but once it's gone you gotta wait till they grow back. And trying to shadow in your eyebrows after an over-waxing is not fun.

I don't like waxing. Tweezing is FREE and much more accurate. My sister has small scars from where she had hers waxed. The wax was too hot and burned her skin.

Eyebrow waxing is definately worth it, if your therapist is good at what she does.

Take in pictures from magazines, the net, wherever, of eyebrows that you like. Explain exactly what you want to your therapist, communication is key!

When making your appointment ask how much experience their therapists have. Ask as many questions as you like, you have to be happy with the end result.

Also, price doesn't necessarily have a bearing as to how experienced and how good the therapists waxing skills are, on average an eyebrow wax should cost between $10-$20.

Just remember, we're not mind readers! If you're unhappy with the job that was done, then tell us! We can't do anything if you don't say anything. Don't be afraid to tell us you're not happy, it's our job to help you!

Also, have on hand a personal eyebrow stencil so the aesthetician can "white out" the desired portion and wax off the rest.

I've been doing my own eyebrows since I was 13. I have made all kinds of mistakes where one didn't look like the other. I know when you pay a pro, you don't expect this..but let them know you are not satisfied, and when they grow back (thank goodness they do), have then redone correctly. Don't let a setback shut you down...
