My scalp is very dry along my hairline. It is so dry, it is coming off in chunks. I am going to the doctors next week to get stiches removed, but is there anything i can do for the time being??

Did you change shampoos recently? Or perhaps did you color your hair? It could be that your scalp is sensitive to one of the products that you are using. Let us know what the doctor says.

Thanks for the advice. I have not coloured my hair recently, or changed shampoos. What I have done though since my scalp has started peeling, I used V05 Hot Oil Treatment (the moisturizing kind) It has helped a little bit, but not for more than 3 days. I have even cut back on washing my hair, incase that was drying my scalp. I appreciate the help, and I will let you know what my doctor says.

Do you think you have a dry skin condition like psorisas makeup_obsessed or could it just be dandruff?

I get dry flaky itchy scalp alot in the winter. It's highly embarrassing. I use Walgreen's Therapeutic-T + Plus Gel Shampoo with Solubilized Coal Tar Extract. Neutrogena has a similar product w/ the Coal Tar Extract. I use it twice a week and it stinks so I have to followup with a heavily scented conditioner. I've never been diagnosed by a derm. If it hadn't cleared up w/ self-treatment I would have. Unless you have some other condition you haven't mentioned I would give it a whirl. You can check your symptoms at WebMD.

I forgot to mention something . Until you see your doctor try not to wash with really hot or really cold water as that will further dry out your scalp.

Yeah, that's a good question, Laura! makeup_obsessed, you can get over the counter medicated shampoos to help combat the condition.

My mom also uses a shampoo called Tersa Tar which helps get rid of flakiness on the scalp. In makeup_obsessed's case it sounds a bit more serious if her hair is fallingout in chunks. Def see your doc, and let us know how it goes

i just came across this on naturallycurly2.com/ curlproducts/new.php
