does anybody know any exfoliating tip?

i heard some products have ingredients that can cause irritation or allergic reaction.

i want to avoid that.

so i was wondering if you have any tips for homemade exfoliating stuff.

thanx a bunch!!

I'm no expert but the home exfoliating stuff I'm using is fantastic - Epidermx II. It has really transformed my skin tone and texture, and best of all doesn't irritate my sensitive skin (I have very minor eczema also). The ingredients look pretty clean. Here's the link for more info Epidermx II Microdermabrasion Pro-Treatment

Oops just saw that you said "homemade" stuff. I don't know of any good ones. But I've heard about baking soda mixed with brown sugar or something like that.

i use the extra gentle buf puf everytime i was my face, so it's kinda like exfoliating each time. i find that it brightens my skin and makes applying my makeup a lot easier. hmm. my derm also tells me that baking soda makes a great exfoliant!

I use a clear liquid soap as a cleanser - Jergens or Ivory.

1-2 times a week I mix a tsp of baking soda with the cleanser.

Mix into a paste and rub into skin for a minute. Rince well to wash off all traces of baking soda - it can be a little drying if any residu is left on.

I use Ivory or Jergens because there are no fragrance or colour additives.

Both of these can cause irritants and allergies.

But liquid soap usually has sodium laurate sulfate, which is drying and really irritating to sensitive skin. Just use any cream cleanser (Cetaphil's is supposed to be good) and mix with baking soda.

for home made stuff, the ones that are supposedly good for you are baking soda and aspirin. but aspirin grains are big so...but it's sorta like using the aspirin mask so it's beneficial to your skin. baking soda is gentle enough for acne skin and is supposed to shrink the pimples...or at least that's how it feels for me. hth

I've also heard baking soda works for exfoliation. You could try using a facial brush or a muslim cloth also.

I exfoliate by sometimes using a face brush to work the cleanser into my skin, and through use of AHA products. For those with very sensitive skin, AHAs may be too irritating, but I haven't had a problem with them.

Hi,

We have a Homemade Skincare Recipes thread in this forum. Click here. You can do a search on what you need.

Good luck!

Carmindy from What Not to Wear has recommended using sugar to exfoliate the skin. I've tried this, and it made my skin super smooth! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
