How many break out after exercising? I finally made a commitment and started really exercising (yay), but my face and chest are starting to break out pretty bad. I haven't changed my skin care products or diet, and my skin has been behaving itself for the past few months. The only thing I can link it to is exercise. Does anyone have any tips? Maybe certain shower gels or topicals? Thanks!

Is it possible you're breaking out from the sweat? I honestly have no idea, and I've never had to deal with acne or major breakouts. Best of luck! I'm sure someone will have better advice then me!

 
I havent broken out after exercising, but it could happen since you sweat a lot afterwards. But sorry i dont have any tips i would sugg. just drink lots of water.

 
It's probably from the sweat and I second the drinking plenty of water. Perhaps you just have some impurities or toxins that you are sweating out and that's actually a good thing so keep drinking alot of water before, during, and after you workouts and this will definitely help and the breakouts should lessen or stop all together. Might also be a good idea to shower and wash your face immediately afterwards.

As mentioned, its most probably the sweat. Just remember to wash your body and face right after your workout. Also, don't wear any MU while working out.

 
i agree w/the girls... don't wear Mu when u workout (some ppl can do it w/0 breaking out ... and other ppl's skin won't tolerate it) and make sure u take a shower b4 hitting the gym

Hi,
As the others suggested, just make sure to cleanse your face and body after exercising. Right now, because of the change you're putting your body through (albeit positive), the toxins are rebelling.

When exercising, you pores open up, and you skin starts to give out sweat to cool our body down while this hard activity is going on. It's like wearing makeup to bed, when you skin is the most active in renewing itself, if you dowear makeup to bed, then you bound to get zits the nextday, and to prevent this, you keep you skin clean and moisturized, so the same applies for the gym. Try washing of the makeup before excersing, and to have a towel or paper handy to wipe of the sweat that is forming, and the two most important tips, are, AVOID ad all costs touching you face with your hands(unless you've washed them seconds before touching you face), casue they are one of the most dirtiest places on your body, and drink water, atleast 2L per day, and about a liter while working out. The acne will get better...

 
hi there..i agree with what everyone is saying. i had similar problems when i started bikram yoga...i was sweating so much that i started breaking out. i make sure to wash my face before and after class. i was talking to this girl in class and she told me it's common that people breakout when they start a new exercise routine...it's all the toxins coming out of your body, but the more you sweat, the less toxin you have in your body right? i hope that theory is right! good luck.

yeah thats the same for me..i work out with makeup and now im breaking out..sucks! just relax, drinks lots of water, and try not to wear any makeup when working out...

 
sweat can clog pores.

just don't eat and become an anorexic model..

kidding.

Exercise actually makes my skin look way better. I think the sweat forces all the junk out of my pores and opens them up, sort of like a steam bath, so when I wash my face (which I always do immediately afterward) the product can penetrate more deeply. As Leza mentioned, maybe your pores are being purged of their toxins and causing all the oils and sebum to rise to the surface. Definately shower wash your face right afterward so nothing has a chance to settle and then apply a light moisturizer.
