i finally found the one i'd like to try, it's at the Paris mosk, and apparently one of the best and also the cheapest. my best friend and i both love that stuff but we've never been to one. and i don't really know what to expect. i mean, i know the existence of black soap and argan oil, but i've only been to saunas before.

what about you?

any recommendations or suggestions about the hammam?

the one i found offers the hammam (lol of course !) as long as we want to enjoy it, along with a scrub, black soap, a 10 minutes massage and the traditional mint tea, all for 38€ (51US$).

Wow that sounds fantastic. If you go I would really love to hear about it. I have been to some nice spas but not a hammam

Man I've always wanted to go but we don't have these things here

Let us know how you like it, it's supposed to be really relaxing and beneficial!!

i know ! and i must say i also love the architecture, and i found some pics of the place, it sounds really cosy. no doubt i'll write about it if i go to this one.

Yes I've been to one in Turkey when I was on a day trip there (from Kos where I was on holiday).

I cannot recommend it enough, I felt amazing afterwards.

The one I went to, they sit everyone a big steam room, then come in and throw cold water over you (which sounds horrendous but it's lovely). Then they come in and exfoliate everyone and then 4 or 5 at a time they take you onto the marble slab in the middle of the room, cover you in bubbles and give you a massage.

I won't lie, they are violent and I think I got the most rough one in there, I could see him slapping the blokes around a bit and I was thinking, what's the betting I get him!! And I did.

He cracked every part of my body - and they're not gentle. Then they wash your hair (again, not gentle!!). But afterwards your skin is glowing and there is not one knot anywhere in your body.

And although I say they're violent it is nowhere near the pain I had from the back massage I had the other week, which hurt like hell!
