I just found out yesterday that I am going to be starting esthetician classes on September 18th. There is a large waiting list for this program so I wasn't sure if my name would come up on the list or not. I am so excited. It is a 6 month program.

Has anyone gone through a similar program? What was it like? Were the classes hard?

Thanks,

Susan

Hi. Congrats on making the list. I actually just graduated on March 2nd from my esthetician program. I started last July and since it was the summer no one really wanted to take the class so my class had 5 people, it was awesome.

The things you learn are going to make you feel great about yourself. at first you might feel overwhelmed cause the class moves fast (my opinion) cause there is alot to cover, but its so fun.

As long as you take good notes everything will eventually come together.

The only problems I had was anatomy (all those darn facial bones and muscles can get ya) and electricity. So study and have a good time, and the best part is that people will start to notice your skin improving since you will give and receive all the treatments and they will start to ask for your opinions. Its a good feeling

You may already know this but one more thing that I learned in that class that became the most important lesson (to me) even now in my daily life is you are going into a class full of women, ALOT of estrogen in one place and you will NOT like everyone and not everyone will like you, and that is ok.

You will also meet some life long friends.

Aloha

Thanks everyone. They only take 15 students at a time so that is why there is a waiting list.

congratulations Susan! I'll be done with my aesthetics program in about a month! I so loved the entire experience! Like Marlaina said there is a lot to cover especially in Anatomy, Physiology(sp?), and electricity but the Malady book is pretty good at giving you at least the basics you need to pass the licensing exam. The thing I love about aesthetics too though is that there is a ton of continuing education and you constantly are learning throughout your entire career. Don't feel like you have to know everything coming out of school; there are so many opportunities to learn more and to expand in different areas. My emphasis is holistic health and natural skin care so I've sought out experiences such as these and others of my esthy friends are really into the western medical aspect of the field and so seek out these experiences. It is such a fabulous career choice:). I hope you enjoy it as much as I have/will!

Congratulations susanks1, thats great news! I bet you are excited! Good Luck and enjoy your classes:)

Hi Susan,

Congrats on your new journey. I am a freelance makeup artist, but because my state requires us to have a license, I chose to study esthetics. :icon_study:

I got my license 3 years ago. The program is great. My favorite part was anatomy and physiology. I do suggest that you stay on top of assigned reading, homework and practice techniques on friends and family.

Good luck
