I've been thinking of possibly enrolling in an Aesthetics program. What are classes like, do students practice on each other for everything waxing,facial,mani/pedi? I'm sitting on the fence if I should enroll. Are there any estheticians with advice?

At the college here, it is a 6 month full time program. They learn facials and waxing. They practice on each other for 2 weeks and then they have paying clients come in to the school. Learning nails is another 6 month full time program.

It's a very hands on course. You practice everything on each other, eventually once you have gotten the hang of things you will get clients booking in for treatments, it's good experience as it gives you a bit of an idea as to what expect from clients in the real world.

It's a really fun career, if you're passionate about skin, then go for it, you'll love it

my course was 6 months full time. the first 3 to 4 weeks was theory. just book work and laws. then we practiced on each other. after that we booked clients. just facials, waxing and makeup. mani and pedi was part of the cosmotology course or a course on its own. we had so many services we had to perform to qualify for graduation. so many of each type of facials, back treatments, waxing (brows, arms, bikini), makeup styles (everyday, fantasy, career, etc) and also sanitations (laundry and prep work in the spa). i think it was one of the best things i've ever done!
