Hello everybody! I was going to start Esthetics school this fall. I checked out one school and found another one online, I just emailed them yesterday, that I'm interested in.(I'm trying to keep my options open for the best school) I was wondering if anybody here is an Esthetician, or going to school to become one? If so, I'm pretty nervous, and excited, but was wondering how it's going for you? Do you like it and how are the job opportunities when you tried to find a job? I was thinking of going around my local salons and speak with an Esthetician myself. Would this be a good idea? Do you do the laser/microdermabrasions as well? I'll take any advice on what to expect for school, or preparation before I start classes. I've been out (by November'11) 5 years and It's pretty scary to go back! Lol Anything you have to share I'm all ears, please don't hesitate to share the good bad and ugly! :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

thanks!

P.S The school I checked out is Tricoci University of Bridgeview, ILL and the school I just emailed is Aveda Institute of Chicago.

If you have heard anything regarding the schools I'd mentioned, let me know please!

Hi Nadia, which school did you choose? I have appointment at Tricoci university this Saturday but also I am sooooo interested in Makeup First School which is downtown and I'm from suburbs... :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Where in IL do you live?

Hi Nadia, My Name is Danielle M. Cole, and I am a licensed Estheticain in Tennessee. I have been licensed for about 3 months now, and work in my own shop (I would not really recommend opening your own fresh out of school... but you live and learn...).

Going to school for Esthetics was one of the best decision of my life, as it helped me find a career path that I love and am passionate about. As far as the good bad and ugly of things, well... to be honest, if your classes were anything like mine, its a good possibility that during your classes, you will have the worst skin of your life... but fear not, it will get much, much, better soon. The good parts, there is nothing in the world like the feeling you get, when a client tells you how awsome your service was.

And last but not least, going to local salons and spas is not a bad idea at all. By doing so you will get to meet other professionals in your area, and get a feel for the industry. But be warned, if you do not like touching people, or dealing with skin and skin problems, this industry will not be for you.

I hope my post helps :S

-Danielle M. Cole
