I've always relied on this, since it seems to work pretty well for me.

While tanning, hanging out in the pool, etc. a sunburn can sneak up on us pretty easily.. and even when we get out of the sun, some how it gets worse and worse 'til you resemble a lobster. BUT, this can be prevented! At the first site of a pinkish hue, pop a couple Motrin. Not only will this prevent the sunburn from getting worse, but it should clear up any bit of sunburn you've gotten already by the end of the day!

I'm not sure how well this would work if you end up falling asleep in the sun for hours, but for minor sunburns that are enough to have you wake up to a bright red nose and cheeks, give it a try!

Also, if you're not a big fan of wearing SPF, but you haven't tanned in a while and are afraid of a major burn, try a SPF 4 or 8. You'll still have to keep an eye on your skin, but this should allow you to be out a bit longer, plus it will keep your skin moisturized.

i have only heard about Motrin to provide the pain relief for a sunburn

Motrin relieves pain by helping to reduce inflammation (swelling). The redness of a sunburn is the result of the body's inflammatory reflex (which also causes injuries or wounds to swell up). Since Motrin is an anti-inflammatory, it helps to reduce the redness, if not make it completely disappear.

I'll have to try that the next sunburn I get. I'm an accidental tanner, not an intentional one so I may burn accidentally. Thanks!

Wonderful Thanks! but I tan easily .. I dont burn.. unless I fall asleep in direct sun lol

I just recently read the Motrin tip and it makes sense. I rarely burn cause I´m careful when in the sun, but if I do I will try this

I usually tan pretty easily too.. except the first tan of the year

Good tip, thanks! I guess this would work with other anti-inflammatories too, like ibuprofen (Advil).
