Has anybody seen/tried this before?

Apparently it's a big seller in Japan, and works just like threading. I just bought one for $3 off of ebay to try it, it looks promising. Specially since I've been trying to teach myself how to thread, and I can never seem to twist the thread as smoothly as they do in the salon. Makes it hurt a thousandfold more than waxing...

The U.S. makers at Facial Hair Threading has a YT video up (they disabled embedding):

YouTube - How to remove facial hair for women | facial hair remover

My sister bought a few of those a couple years ago.

The middle part is basically like a metal spiral and as you roll it against your skin, hair gets stuck inside and yanks it out.

It's not painless (you ARE getting hair yanked out) but it's definitely faster than tweezing since you can get an entire area at once.

It does pull out the hair though, which you can actually see stuck in between the little wires, although I'm not sure how many passes it'd take for complete hair removal.

I'm convinced somebody saw a coil thing on a toy or machine and accidentally ripped out a patch of arm hair with it by touching it when it moved and then decided to make money off it. It's a really simple product, honestly, but it does seem to be at least decently effective for this use too.

I wouldn't suggest it for eyebrows since you'd want to have better control of actual appearance on your eyebrows. It's more for clearing out the entire area of hair.

Lol, that's probably exactly what happened too. But it does look like it simulates threading really well. I'm good with my brows - I've gotten those to a good shape over the years and can maintain them with tweezers now. But it's the facial hair that sucks. HATE waxing and depilatories - they both leave my face red and sore and sensitive. LOVE threading, but I don't have that available to me unless I learn it myself. Not easy.
Thanks for the reply!

Yanking hairs is yanking hairs.. Just a different way.. Pretty cheap for $3!!

Actually that's seems pretty neat. But I wonder if it yanks out the hair completely from the root.

it probably depends on how good of a grab it does.

I made this picture to kind of show what it does close up (made the entire hair come out cause it's easier to draw it that way) You can tell what it's doing easily from close up when it's in your hands...it's kind of hard to describe from a picture from far away though.

i guess if the hair is extra fragile and breaks it wouldn't get the root, but like tweezing, even if you get the root most of the time, sometimes a hair will break before you get the entire sucker out.

When you pull the thing away from you, you can actually see the hair sticking out of the coils, and since you're pulling from close to skin level, it has to be pulling a little deeper than from the skin level. It's been a couple years so I don't remember if I actually saw root or not, I wouldn't be surprised though. The root coming out just means that you didn't break the hair before it was pulled.

it's like...a bunch of paper thin opening tweezers at once i guess?

I have used epicare..it was really good..i will give it thumbs up..I use to buy it from myspringit.com , they offer free shipping and it is considerably cheaper..

this actually looks really good. at the moment i use wax strips there but they irritate my skin a lot.

Really? I recently purchased but haven't gotten around to using it well. It worked on the test area but man it hurt!

also it damaged my skin..I think you can just give this epicare a try. It is less painful..if you want to rate the pain level between 1-10 (where 10 is the labor pain) I will give it 1.5.

I would suggest you to buy Myspring It - Facial Hair Remover, bcoz you can return it within a week if you are not satisfied with the product (I dont know about other epicare stuff, you can just google it on..If i find something i will post it)..

but "myspringit" looks good for me, i am using it for the past 6 months..

I don't know, girls, but I have one and it does work well.

I've got mine from Face Authority; at the biggining it was a little bit painful, but now my skin has got desensitized.

I have just ordered the epicare... Im fed up having to wax my face.

Hope this works as it looks so easy to use.. I have had threading done and I dont find that too painful, this looks like a similar method to that.
