My best friend is currently waxing brazilian and is having "issues" here it is she puchased the sally hansen brand with muslin strips. it is not working... I am the one who told her how great it was, but I used surgiwax and it did not use the muslin strips. any pointers? she pulled the strip off right above the "business" area. the wax stayed on and no hair came off. she called me freaking out. Thanks in advance!

ok, well to me it either sounds like the wax isnt warm enough, too thick or she didnt pull the right way. she needs to pull the opposite way the hairs are growing, and like naturally said make sure she presses down firmly taughts the skin and pulls, but dont just pull up you have to pull up and across at the same time.

hope this helps

Poor girl! I use Nair roll on sugaring wax, it washes off with water so if you have a problem it's no big deal.

Muslin strips usually work best. The wax needs to be applied really thinnly or else it won't come off right, apply with the hair growth and remove by pulling against holding the strip at almost a 90 degree angle. You can use oil to gently remove any leftover wax but it takes time to get it all off.

If it was her first time she cant expect to get it right (thats not saying its impossible) maybe she just needs to practice more.

oh i do feel sorry for your friend! This has happened to me before, infact I"ll never wax at home again. Kim, when that email went around I was cringing reading it, it made me relive my own experience! Best thing for your friend to do is to get the scissors out, I don't think there's any easy method of getting the hair off now with the wax now unfortunately.

well I just checked in with her, there were some injuries. a bit of skin came off:( I dont think she will ever do it again. thats a bummer, cause if you get it right it is so worth it :icon_redf ... how do you explain that to someone who has been traumatized.

OMG I dont wax down there, but if I did I wouldnt do it myself, I cant inflict that kind of pain on myself! If someone else did it, I would just grit my teeth and bear it but I wouldnt have the guts to rip the hair off my ha ha....lol

BTW, I have read several places that a lot of women use this stuff called Black Magic or something like that. It is made for black mens beards believe it or not but supposably is works great for down there. You mix it with water and put it on the hair and it takes it off kinda like nair would. I think Im gonna try it and Ill get back with ya on it!

I have had some BAAAAAAAD waxing experiences myself. I'm sure your friend has gotten the excess wax off by now--any kind of oil will get it off.

I have found that the only kind of wax that really works for me is the old-fashioned traditional kind that's hard as a rock before heating (some require muslin strips; some can be ripped off without a strip).

There are some microwave formulas out right now that are thick and gooey before heating--these are TERRIBLE. I wonder if this is what you friend had?

If you friend is going for a true Brazilian look, find a salon. "A little off the sides" is fine at home, but an all-out landing strip is just too hard for a do-it-yourselfer.

Make sure the salon tech has A LOT of experience in bikini waxes. I had a truly awful experience with a young, inexperience waxer at a very expensive salon. She literally ripped skin off--RIGHT BEFORE MY WEDDING. I had scaley scabs on my inner thighs during my honeymoon. NOT SEXY.

Good luck!

Bummer! That sucks!

I do my own wax with the surgi-wax and I think it works great! it does not use the muslin strips. Anyway, she got bruised and some skin came off so I am not sure if she will do it again, even though I explained to her the great rewards in the bedroom that come with waxing :icon_redf

There are not many (2) places where we live that even do these types of waxes and I do not trust that they have done it enough. Small towns can suck like that.
