I am needing good advise from you lovely and wonderful people. I have dry/oily skin. Right now it seems more dry then anything, and i am prone to acne, especially black heads and those really deep painful blemishes that feel like a hard bump right under the surface. My problem is my skin is super dry right now, but any mosterizer i put on it gets my skin to oily causing break outs. I need a good mosterizer and face wash that wont be to harsh on my skin. Any advise?

IMHO...use the most gentle cleanser you can find...cetaphil, basis, etc...and always use a moisturizer immediately following washing. Cetaphil makes a great moisturizer too. Exfoliation is also a good idea. Your skin will produce more oil if you don't moisturize enough. If you aren't moisturizing enough, when you first start, it'll seem like an insane oil slick. Thats because you skin is used to trying to hydrate what you heven't been but soon it'll slow down.

I learned this the hard way. I had super oily acne-prone skin for years and spent all my time trying to dry it out...which made it worse. Skin produced more oil and acne/blackheads were worse because of all the surface dead skin. Finally, while on accutane, the derm got me straightened out.

I think the most gentle face wash is "Purpose", it's made by Johnson & Johnson, it cleans thoroughly without drying out. The most gentle exfoliator I've tried is Clarins "Gentle Facial Peeling", and you can follow that with Clarins "Aromatic Plant Mask" which hydrates your skin. That will gently get rid of dead surface cells allowing your natural oils to keep your skin moisturized. I have hyper oily skin, and I don't use moisturizer, because it breaks me out.
