I have heard a lot of talk about dry brushing when it comes to cellulite. Can somebody please explain what it is and how you do it? I have been wondering this for awhile. Thanks!

Old skin cells foster the skin's ability to excrete toxins through the skin. Dry skin brushing is an easy way to stimulate the lymph system, which in turn, enhances the body's natural detoxification processes.

Many years ago I went to an iridologist who recommended this for me. I bought a vegetable brush which she recommended since the bristles are neither too soft nor too stiff. It hurt at first and took some getting used to. I haven't done this in forever and really should get back to it so thanks for the reminder!

Cellulite is caused by built up toxins in fat cells and/or poor circulation. Dry brushing is good for increasing circulation and ridding the body of toxins so it makes sense that it would benefit.

Here's the directions:

The body should be dry and naked.

Using a natural fiber brush or loofa sponge, brush skin once or twice in the same direction, across every surface of the body except the face.

Do not scrub, massage, or rotate the brush on the body; just sweep it across the skin in long smooth strokes in the direction of the heart.

Brush up the arms from hands to shoulders, up the legs from feet to hops, down the back and torso, up the bullocks, down the neck, and across the shoulders.

The entire process should take no longer than a minute, and should be done while the skin is still dry.

An easy time to do it is before you take a shower.

I was told to dry brush my ankle after I had surgery on it to bring blood flow down and more importantly to desensitize the feeling in my skin. So don't get to carried away... It worked for that.

It supposidly helps alot with digestion as well. There's an Aromatherapy store near me that sells the nicest natural brushes I've ever seen. The come in three sizes. I think they said they were made of coconut. They feel so nice, It's on my lemmings list!

ya, I thought I saw a natural brush in the body shop, I guess it was made of cactus? OUCH!

I have done this. But I didn't do it long enough to see results. Maybe I should start again.
