I woke up peeling and flaking this morning. but the worst part is, throughout the day, my t-zone would get all oily. My skin is just not being nice these days. What to do?

There was a post about this not so long ago. I think everyone came to the conclusion that its caused by over cleansing. Whats your skin care routine like?

hi there! thanks for your response...so i'm currently using Rodan & Field Unblemish which includes a cleanser that has sulfur, toner that has witch hazel, a repairing lotion that has benzoyl peroxide, and moisturizing lotion....i wash my face twice a day. I wonder if the medicated cleanser and lotion are causing my dry skin. I skipped the BP lotion last night and this morning, but still dry skin!

but the strange thing is...my skin gets oily throughout the day...does this happen to you too?

Honestly Im no skin expert . I have dry skin that is acne prone. Does your skin feel tight after you cleanse?

oh my god, does it??? it feels really tight and dry....i have to moisturize RIGHT AWAY...and i hate it when i put on moisturizer, my skin starts flaking. it makes putting on my makeup really hard...

dont worry honey i have dry skin that flakess and its acne and acned scared Oh gosh i hate it but i reckon its ur skincare its maybe not right for u

maybe u should stop using it to see if its ur skincare because u said after u cleanse u feeel dry and tight well that means its not right for u.. You see the problem with people that has dry acne skin nothing seems to work for them because everything to treat acne its always for oily skin and when we use it it will dry our skin even more ( i dont know if i made sense but yeah)

Agree with Mouna. I think your cleanser is too harsh for your skin. Your skin should feel refreshed and tingly but not tight. It's hard to find the right cleanser when you've got dry skin. Check out the Vaseline thread to see if it could work for you

Maybe you could pat on some Jojoba oil after cleansing your skin or grapeseed oil. Also you might want to switch to dove soap...A member recommended A+D daiper rash ointment (Okay..now now..hold your chuckles, missy)..I bought it and so far so good. I researched on it an people use it to battle dry dull flakey skin.

I hope i was of assistance! goodluck.

definitely your cleanser. maybe you should try another moisturiser, one made for dehydrated acne prone skins, until your skin is better.

haha...you guys crack me up especially the diaper rash thing...i immediately got a mental image of having diaper rash on my face (wait...not so funny), but it makes sense though - I may have to try it!

I just came back from my dermatologist, and she tells me that my acne is very mild...just clogged pores and a pimple here and there. She told me that my regimen may be too harsh. She prescribed me Differin cream and Duac. She keeps telling me that I should use Cetaphil or Purpose, saying that they're both gentle and less drying....hmm, maybe I should do a search or start a new thread on whether or not these products work!

Thanks girls for all your advice...I LOVE THIS SITE...WOO HOO

I say get a gentle cleanser and moisturizer for combination skin and just spot treat the acne.

I use both cetaphil moisturizer and cleanser............the cleanser I only use in the shower b/c it doesn't remove m/u very well..........I use a thicker cleanser at the end of the day to remove my m/u

I have the exact same problem!

The solution:

Exfoliate day and night- ever since i have been using this it has decreased the amount of pimples and less flakes!

Oooh...what do you exfoliate with?

It sounds like your skin may be dehydrated. Gentle exfoliation should help as well!

I'd use a moisturiser and if you use pimple treatment, only apply it to the actual spot not around the area.

Sulfur in a cleaner??? Okay, that throws me for a loop... I agree with the girls, your cleanser might be too harsh for you...

You can also try gentle AHA's to dissolve the dead skin and maybe a hydrating mask.

I think it's a good idea to change to a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil and I agree with a moisturizer for combo skin.

Thanks everyone for the great advice! you guys are so sweet...so after reading all your responses, i've decided to go gentle! I started using the Differin last night and this morning, even though I wasn't all flakey, my skin was still very dry...it was so hard to put on my makeup. I think I'm either going to try Cetaphil or Purpose (there are some great reviews for Purpose on drugstore.com). Also, I'm going to get the Buf Puf (I got this from Jennifer's notepad)! I hope these changes combined with my prescriptions will help me...thanks again everyone...BIG HUGS FOR EVERYONE
