Does anyone on here get facials?

I have been breaking out badly lately. I thought perhaps this might help. I called up a beauty school (cuz it's cheaper & I heard they do a good job from a friend of mine) & they said it would help, but initially I might break out more right after facial.

I was just wondering how you all liked facials & what you find they do for you.

I made an appointment for tomorrow. I am hoping I am happy with the results.

I've gone a couple times, for microdermabrasion. I loved it! I do tend to break out more after, because the pores are basically purging themselves. But if you keep up with your regular facial care, that usually clears up within a few days. I just love the pampering feeling, and my skin feels sooo smooth afterwords! I haven't done it in awhile, mostly because I'm watching my $$$ right now, so that's an extravagance I can't swing. I prefer to do it in the winter, because my skin is a bit drier so I don't tend to break out as bad after.

Enjoy yourself! I also find it's extremely relaxing if you're a bit stressed. It relaxes muscles in your face that you don't even realize you are tensing!

I get facials & glycolic peels when time/$$ permits & it does help keep my skin clear., but I do home facial too. A clay mask - such as red clay has great drawing power.

Edited to add: I've had microdermabrasion treatments & they work nicely too. Results similar to glycolic peel. Exfoliation is my friend! I have a home set that I use now & then.

Can I ask how much glycolic peels & microdermabrasion run? And what the difference is between the two? They aren't listed for the beauty school I'm going to, so I guess I'd have to find a real spa & pay big $$ for those though.

Well it can vary a lot depend on city you live in. A facial they deep clean, mask , extractions, massage about $90 & the glycolic peel is an add on, about $50 . Its a treatment of glycolic acid that is a light peel. It diminish some discoloration (not major sun damage) & fine lines but isn't drying. Very nice for oily skin.

Ithink its good to go for a facial every so often,

even if its just to pamper yourself .

i'm planning to have facials regularly to help my acne scars to lighten up. it's pretty expensive but i think it's gonna be worth it. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> what i dont like about facials is the pain i get from getting my blackheads squeezed out. ouch!

The Mario Badescu cleanser looked nice too. I noticed it & several other products contain glycolic, which is great for oily skin & acne/blackheads.

yeah, if I don't have success with the murad stuff or once I use it up I think I'm gonna try mario badescu--I've been using a few of their products for a few years now & now they finally have a cleanser & I've never tried their astringents, there's a lot to choose from though.......and I've been using a sample of their oil free moisture lately, it's got spf in it too. Very nice.

I got facials a lot when I was younger. They always made my skin break out, but it never improved long term. I stopped going. My skin looks better with home microdermabrasion and it's cheaper anyway.

what home microdermabrasion are you using?

well the beauty school refused to do the facial on me, they said my acne was too severe, that their state license wouldn't allow it. They told me I need to go to a professional.

i've gotten 2 facials and liked both of them.

both facials were "european style" (i think thats what its called, not sure)

in addition to cleansing, exfoliating, and massageing my face-

the aestician also did extractions-got rid of the blackheads on my face

i want to but theyre pricey and its like think of all the makeup and other stuff i can get with that.

ive only given myself facials, but one day i will cave in and get one!

ive only ever had one and the immediate results were very nice and noticeable but the fresh flush was gone after a few hours.. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

maybe regular facials would have a longer lasting effect, but I am having good luck with home glycolic peels and microdermabrasion and masks that I have been able to try over a period of time to determine whether they work for me or not..

I have gotten facials in the past, and I always end up breaking out. Not just a little zit or two, but one or two massive deep pimples. So, I am always afraid to get a facial. I'm not sure if it is my skin's reaction to the products used...I've had it done at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door spa, and at Bliss. I do have to say that aside from the massive pimples, my skin does feel cleaner.

They say, once a month is good. you need to do that actually. to remove all the dead skin and refresh your skin.

I do it once a month, at home. i mostly use natural products.
