Do you use bleach in your laundry when you wash towels and pillowcases?

Could this have a negative effect for someone with sensitive skin?

Is it possible that the bleach could "linger" on the fabric and cause problems (irritation, acne) when you use them?

Thanks.

i just put a tiny bit in to help bleach them. but i don't have sensitive skin

Yes, absolutely. If you are having reactions to liquid bleach, try using the color safe-it works really well, or run your sheets thru an extra rinse cycle, that should help :icon_smil

Absolutely. It's one of the harshest household chemicals commonly used. Detergent can also cause a reaction asd the residue is never really removed from clothes.

Cheer laundry detergent has the gentle formula. it's dermatologist tested or something like that.

I have to use it on my husbands stuff when he comes back from sea to get it white again (the Navy doesn't bother to separate whites and darks LOL). It never really rinses away, you can always smell it after I take the clothes out of the dryer. I'm sure it can cause skin irritation.

For everyday whites, I just put them in before bed with detergent, let the washer fill and run for a few minutes to mix it all up then leave it overnight and finish the cycle in the morning.

I only bleach "whites" like socks or tee shirts or underwear. My sheets and towels are not white and I don't want them to fade so I don't even use color-safe bleach.

I still can't get our white sneaker socks clean - I even tried that Oxy stuff.

Thanks for all your replies.

The reason I asked is because I've read that people with acne-prone skin should use bleach on their towels because it kills the bacteria.

However, the sensitive skin issue comes up again. Bleach might kill the bacteria, but it could cause problems later on.

I have found that certain laundry detergents give me hives and itchy spots. I a sure bleach could do the same thing.
