DIY BEAUTY TREATMENTS

Stocking your bathroom cupboard with peels and exfoliating treatments can be expensive, but there is a way to keep your skin looking fab WITHOUT spending a fortune at the supermarket. All of these treatments can be made from things in your pantry or kitchen cupboard…what are you waiting for?

Before you start:

Make sure you do a patch test first on a small part of your neck to check that you aren't allergic to any ingredients. Wait for 20 minutes before applying it to your face. If you have sensitive skin, avoid using citrus fruits, avocado and eucalyptus.)

FACE MASK:

Face mask: blend ½ tsp fresh lemon juice, 1 tsp dry black tea, 1 egg white and 1tsp honey. For dry skin, add ½ avocado and 1 slice of fresh peach, for oily skin, add ½ cup strawberries and about 60g grated raw pumpkin. Leave on your skin for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

APPLE EXFOLIATOR:

An apple a day isn’t just good for keeping the doctor away – it also works on dry skin!

Peel and core an apple and mash it up into a paste. Stir in a cup of sugar and use to exfoliate your skin next time you have a shower. Rub the mixture all over your body, concentrating on dry areas like elbows and heels to reveal fresh, healthy skin.

BANISH THAT BLEMISH:

If you've got a blemish that you need to move ASAP, dab the offending area with a small amount of solid deodorant. The blemish will dry up overnight so the only thing you’ll have to worry about is what colour lippy to wear!

SOFT HANDS:

If you dream of soft hands with strong, shiny nails read on! Mix four tablespoons of olive oil with one tablespoon of sugar and gently massage into your hands. Leave the mixture on for 5-10 minutes then rinse off. Or you can give your hands a real treat by applying the mixture at bedtime and covering your hands with a pair of rubber gloves. Remove the gloves in the morning, rinse and voila! smooth, sexy hands.

I just finished reading this and i had to go and try to make my ugly hands supper smooth! it worked great they are so soft! im so ganna keep doin this!

Yep, I had a nasty red pimple (just a little one) on my chin and I applied a tiny amount over it before bedtime, now its gone and the skin is not so oily =D I would be cautious about doing this on dry/sensitive skin though as it is quite drying!

So any kind of deodorant would work as long as it's solid? like Lady's Speed Stick? what if it's scented? (sorry too many questions)

Just tried it with my scented deodorant. Worked GREAT!!! I dont think if its scented it would work different, but everyones skin is different.

I decided to try the pimple and deodorant thing. It actually worked. No squeezing or anything. I used a scented one...(Ban). When I woke up this morning it was not as swollen and it wasn't as red. And it was dried up. Thanks!
