It this best suited for someone with major acne? I have breakouts sometimes and heard this is really good as a treatment. Is it to be applied all over the face or is it a spot treatment?

I don't know about this cream but I know a few of the members here use it. Hope they see this message and jump in.

Well, since it's a prescription (in the US at least) I'd recommend talking to your doctor. I have very oily skin prone to clogged pores caused by my oily skin but not much true acne (true acne requires the presence of a certain bacteria). My dermatologist prescribed Differin for a while, along with Clindagel. It worked fairly well but he switched me to Tazorac after a few years and it worked even better. I used Differin all over my face as a preventative measure (as instructed by my derm) and it never dried out my skin, although other girls on this site say they use it as a spot treatment because it does dry out their skin.

I think Differin's active ingredient is commonly used to treat oily skin, since it is mentioned in this article. That would explain why it dries out other girls' skin, if their skin is less oily than mine... but we all know that different drugs work best for different people!

I use Differin as a maintenance treatment after I got off of Accutane... It is WONDERFUL! It really doesn't dry out my face at all, and I think it is very gentle... I used Tazorac before I went on Accutane, and it didn't do anything, and it also seemed MUCH more intense...

If you are interested in Differin and your Dr Rx's it, PM me. I have a link to a drugstore for Canada that has it for cheap and without a Rx, so no worries about refills.

Since you are in Canada I don't know if the website I have would be cheaper thana drugstore near you, but it is worth a shot...

EDIT - I use it at night all over my face and I don't find it drying...
