So, I have never done a face masque before in my life, I have never really been into my skin aside from moisturizer, acne creams, astringents, and lotions. The other day I was looking thru a friend of mine's catalog she sells some stuff called BeautiControl. I had never heard of it before, however I was thumbing through looking for a primer and instead came across a detoxifying masque. I read the product info, and asked her about it. So yesterday she brought me a sample to try in a little jar, and last night I tried it. Well it brought everything to the surface of my face, and afterwards it made my face feel so soft. I counted down the hours to do it again tonight, I had to text her real quick and ask if I could do it again, because I was impressed with only one use. Has anyone ever tried this masque before? Or any type of detox masque for the face, and if so what kind? what were your results? would you do it again? do you believe it works?

I have used clay masks and I always thought their purpose is for detox. I got the ingredients list on the detoxifying clay mask. They have everything in here but the kitchen sink!

Water, Butylene Glycol, Kaolin, Glycerin, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Silt, Propylene Glycol, Methyl Gluceth-20, Bisabolol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Rosmarinus Officinalis, Macrocystis Pyrifera, Camellia Sinensis, Hippophae Rhamnoides, Juniperus Communis Fruit, Glycyrrhiza Glabra, Eucalyptus Globulus, Camellia Sinensis, Taraxacum Officinale, Achillea Millefolium, Lavandula Angustifolia, Salvia Officinalis, Chamomilla Recutita, Citrus Grandis, Althaea Officinalis, Hamamelis Virginiana, Aesculus Hippocastanum, Equisetum Hyemale, Foeniculum Vulgare, Hedera Helix, Humulus Lupulus, Sambucus Nigra, Thymus Vulgaris, Tussilago Farfara, Mentha Piperita, Mentha Arvensis, Mentha Viridis, Commiphora Myrrha, Anthemis Nobilis Flower, Pogostemon Cablin, Salvia Sclarea, Tagetes Minuta, Mentha Pulegium, Viola Odorata, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis, Citrus Medica Limonum, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc Gluconate, Copper Gluconate, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Trideceth-9, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, Iron Oxide, Mica, Titanium Dioxide

Have you tried making your own mask?

Kaolin clay

rosemary hydrosol

glycerin

witchhazel distillate

if you want to get fancy, some green tea extract and lavender and chamomile essential oils.

Do you have horsetails growing where you are? Its prime for picking right now! Dry it and add it to your mask too - its in that huge list of herbs and essential oils.

I had been trying to kill them for 4 years. I've finally found a use for them. I pick them, dry them and grind them up in a magic bullet until it is powder fine.

hmm i dont know if there is a difference between regular clay masks & detoxifying masks..sounds interesting thogh..hopefully someone can give us more info..bump

I use Queen Helene The Original Mint Julep Masque Facial Masks. It's cheap (around $3) and found at places like CVS and Walgreens.

The clay will dry but the ingredients don't have any real way to sink into the sink while the clay is drawing everthing out. It does have a whole ton of herbs in it like licorice, dandelion, sage, kelp, tea, green tea, horse chestnut, horsetail, coltsfoot, yarrow, black elderberry - almost anything you can think of to justify the $38.50 price tag attached to the product.

I have never tried making a masque because I have never been interested in it, my friend just raved it was so good. It is very pricey, But i thought it was good? Haha but now that I can learn to make it, most likely I won't be buying it.

What the partial list of what's in it? PM me and I'll send you what I got from the ingredients list. I ran out of patience. There's just soo much stuff in it. You can pick and choose to what you want to put in it. I don't think everything is necessary.

That list is so long it hurts my eyes !

I've always thought clay was also used for detox, i like to add powdered green tea in my mask sometimes, or seaweeds (crushed pills or open caps from my food supplements).

I can't get passed the smell of seaweed. It just doesn't smell nice and I can't really stand the smell for too long... but yah... the masks are just soooo easy to make and they don't need to cost $40 a tube.

Yeah, especially with all this hype about seaweed skincare, i know there are more research about them and therefore more skincare products with seaweeds, but they cost so much for just a seaweed extract !

I have trouble coping with that smell too, so i limit the quantity i use in a mask, i've also tried adding an essential oil to make it smell better, but so far, no success.
