Heya Everyone I'm new to this Makeup Talk forum so hi lol! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I really need help I've got really bad dark eye circles which are ruining my self confidence so much (I've attached a picture of them in natural light without makeup) I dunno if its uploaded or not. Anyways I've used loads of different concealers which don't seem cover them up just make them look worse!. I've used Skin Doctors circle clear which hasn't made a jot of difference :icon_mad: . My skin around my eyes is really thin and has had lots of dry patches, I just don't know what to do anymore, please can someone give me some ideas? thanks xxxxxxx

Hi. I have the same problem as you but mine are so much "darker." I really look like I have 2 black eyes. It is so embarrissing to me!! They are heriditary for me. I have tried so many things and I'm sorry to say not much works for me. I have not found a concealer that will work for me. I am still searching and I'm sorry to have no solution, but I feel your pain. Hopefully we will get some answers.

Several things can cause them and it is important to address that first.

1.) Is it hereditary or always been there?

If so try one of the lift products out on the market now. We carry one in our RE9 line that I have seen help many people.

2.) Are you anemic?

If so I can tell you first hand that my daughter has to eat her spinach to light up the purple underneath. Maybe even schedule an appointment with your doctor for a supplement. Some eye creams will help. My daughter uses one of ours called bio hydria eye cream. (Works great and fast on dry skin around eyes.)

3.) Is it age?

Your eyes stop producing moisture underneath at the age of 12. You may need a moisture boost. Bio hydria can help with that but if older try RE9 eye cream to help reverse effects.

4.) Are you sleeping?

We need sleep, beauty sleep ofcoarse. Some eye creams will help, but sleep is what is needed.

Hope these help, I too am a new girl here :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I feel your pain! I have the same situation with my eyes. My dr. has told me it's largely genetic, and also affected by my bad allergies and caffeine consumption, so unfortunately, I don't think there is a really a cure.

I have tried Hylexin and almost every other product out there, but nothing has worked to fade them. The only thing I can do is try to cover them a little.

The best concealers I have found for disguising them a bit are CoverBlend by Exuviance(available at Ulta), Estee Lauder's concealer (don't have the exact name in front of me- (comes in blue tube), and Physician's Formula CoverToxTen50 concealer. This one is new, and I have just been trying it a week or so, but it seems to be pretty good. It does, however "goop up" throughout the day and needs to be smoothed with the finger occasionally.

My favorite is the Exuviance. It is like an eye cream mixed with concealer, but it is pretty opaque. It doesn't totally cover my circles, but it helps.

I don't know if you've tried any of those, but if not, give them a shot. Most of all, keep your chin up! You can't help that you have dark circles, and you aren't alone! I know how depressing it can be, but you just have to try to accept that others won't judge you for it. Hang in there!

I have the same problem and I am still looking for a great product/concealer. I have always had dark circles and am plagued by lack of sleep, allergies etc..I just live with them and try my best to cover them up with concealer. You are certainly not alone!

Peekaboo, I am unsure of your age but you sound like you have hormonal issues. I used to have the same problems with allergies and sleep and found I was estrogen dominate. Here in the US we carry a cream called Prolief that I have used for the last two years and have had none of those problems since. It is not sold in Canada but check out a local health food store and ask them about a natural progesterone cream and go for one in a pump if Canada sells them. You can also find saliva test at http://www.johnleemd.com to have something to confirm and take to your doctor.

I thought there was no hope too but their is.

Hi Ann! It is quite possible re:the hormones, I am currently on a progesterone only BCP(cannot take the regular BCP) and I have heard of a natural progesterone cream but have not seen one in my local health food store. I am 31 for reference and have always had dark circles to the point of people asking whether I am sick...I have had blood tests and am not anemic and I do supplement my diet but this cream sounds interesting. Wonder if taking my BCP concurrent with this cream would help. Thanks!

There is a way but some doctors say it doesn't work were most patience say they do feel the differance. I would still ask the doctor.

BCP are a form of estrogen aka HRT's. They can make you imbalanced and worsen your symptoms or even cause them. I have a presentation I can email you if you wish to see it. Just email me at XXXX-SPAM-XXXX with Hormone presentation in subject line.

Also Dr. John Lees book at his website called " What your doctor may or may not tell you about Pre Menipause" is a book every woman 15 and up should have.

You can get a tape, not sure the cost at http://www.theseventhwoman.org that you can share with your doctor. It educates them on research from a non-profit that educates. Alot of doctors do not get much training in hormones and nutrition.

I hope this helps.

I am 31 and mine started at 15.

I have dark circles as well, and I am very healthy and mine are simply a result of being fair, and thin skinned under my eyes, as well as simply a part of herditary (not the best thing I inherited from my mom, lol). Getting a good amount of sleep helps, as does drinking a ton of water and eating right. So drink more water is my suggestion, and I also use Dr.Perricone products, which though expensive, are the only thing that works for me.

I heard for covering them up- you should use a light pink with light reflective qualities that is close to your skin tone, instead of yellows. I have seen Carmindy (a makeup artist from 'What Not to Wear") use it many times and it works great! I am not sure of the brand, but I think its in stick form like a thick eyeliner pencil.

Aww thanks everyone for your help! I've always had them, just as I've got older the seem to get darker, I'm 16 but I dread to think what they will look like when I'm 30! :scared:

I agree with the water and also I have found herbal tea to be pretty helpful as I think it is an antioxidant and clears the system out really well. Anyway I have found my dark circles to be much improved the next day if I drink a couple of mugs of herbal tea the day before.

Currently I am using Laura Mercier Secret Concealer and it works quite well. I'm not completely satisfied with it however, as I think it could cover my circles better. I am waiting for Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer to arrive this week though so hopefully that will be better I'll let you know!

In my opinion your circles don't look too bad and I reckon they can be covered up pretty well with a good concealer, although I think with most people they have to have one suited perfectly to their own self, kind of a bit of trial and error sort of thing (that's what I've found anyway). What concealers have you tried?

Being 16 you might want to try something like bio hydria that one of the others reccomended. Your eyes may have gotten darker from the lack of making moisture on their own.

My skin is very pale, so the first thing is finding the right colour. I'm using Lily Lolo Mineral Makeup at the moment but I can't use there powder concealer around my eyes it looks awful and makes my skin really dry. I either end up using one of my foundations (loreal infalliable, its rubbish but its the only colour that looks ok on my skin).

I've used cliniques airbrush concealer in the past which was rubbish for my circles. I don't know if anyones tryed it but Clinique have a concealer just for your eyes.. All About Eyes, if anyone knows what its like please tell me! lol :w00t:

Never heard of the air brush. I will have to check that out. I was stationed next to Belks Clinique girl at a recent event, I will have to give her a call.

Minerial makeups are great. Are you getting good coverage with that?

Ann Phelps :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

It dosen't give a heavy coverage, I would say light to medium coverage. My skin is much better since I've been using it, my skin tone has evened out much more, instead of being blochty.

Something I have been doing which is really really helpful is searching for reviews on the net for under eye concealers. There are reviews on this site. Also MUA is fantastic for reviews (you can find loads and loads of reviews for just about any product). You might want to have a look.

Thats great, I have found that minerial makeups and makeup with less minerial oil do the same for me. My skin is super pale and sensitive and I have had the same problems.
