what kind of iron is better, and easier to use, ones with spirals on or the ones without?

I actually use my 1" Chi to curl my hair -- since it is ceramic it doesn't ruin my hair and I can control the type of curl I want too

I think you'd get more use out of a regular one. The first is good for spirals, but that's about it.... if you want more versatility - just use a basic one. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

whats the difference in the result between them? ive never used a curling iron so im a bit clueless.

greeneyedangel, is that a straightener? i cant figure out how to curl my hair with mine, whenever i try it just makes an angular mess. :icon_conf

Well, not that much really, if you're going for spirals. You just sometimes get a more uniformed curl with the 1st one, being you have a guide. With #2, you can do curls almost like how you'd use hot rollers, more barrel curls. It's slightly different than spiral. But it's much easier to do that with #2. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

any special brands i should look into? or can i just get the cheapest one in the store as long as its ceramic, like babyliss? will it do the job or are they like straighteners, the more expensive the better? my hair is curly as it is, but sometimes it goes straight in some parts when i sleep, so i want to add some curls back into it.

You dont' have to break the bank... There are really good ceramic irons out there now that aren't very expensive. Babyliss is good, Remington has one, Hot Tools, and a bunch more.... everything nowadays is ceramic - so you shouldn't have too much of a problem finding one that works for you ... and your wallet :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hey Janelle, have you tried that Hot Air Revo Styler? I haven't but I thought about it. I really hate my straight hair.

Depends on what you want to do, the first one is only good for spirals and if you have long hair then it will only do te bottom part of it. The second one pretty much goes either way

Hmmm.. not sure if I've seen that one... it's not the rotating brush one right? Is it one of those stylers with the ends you can change and it has a little blowdryer in the base?? I have a conair one like that - had it probably for about 10 years... and maybe used it 5 times... lol It has a brush & curling iron attachment. It's a good concept, but it really doesn't blow fast enough or heat up enough to really do much. :icon_wink

No Chi makes curling irons as well as blowdryers and they are all great. A bit on the pricey side but it is well worth my money. I have 3 curling iron, 3 dryers and 2 flatirons and thier round brush set to :0) I wouldn't trade any of my Chi's for nothing.

But I would stick with a regular curling iron for spirals. The others ones don't allow you to use very much hair when using them anyways.
