Could anyone define the difference b/w these two?

What is the difference between a cream cleanser, and a foam cleanser?

How about a cleanser and a scrub?

I mean, obviously the foam and cream is the texture....and I think I just answered my question..

nevermind.

but what about a cleanser and a scrub? I always thought they did the same thing.

a scrub is a physical exfoliant used to take off dead layers of your skin. a cleanser is basically just that. its cleans. scrubs dont always clean. many are oil based to keep the grains from being too rough on your skin.

there are many types of scrubs and many types of cleansers... and their are cleansers with scrubs infused.

i personally do not use a scrub everyday, maybe once a week. instead i use a cleanser with an active exfoliant, and not grains, such as salicylic acids or alpha hydroxy or enzymes... an active exfoliant is usually a acid based ingredient that at low levels is much better for your skin (depending on your skin's sensitivity- in which you should just stay away from exfoliants anyway).

hope that clarifies!

A cream cleanser is one which is like rubbing a thick cream on your face, and then you tissue or rinse off - it doesn't foam up like foaming cleansers do. That said, you can get CREAMY foam cleansers (like Shiseido does some I think) which are not liquidy, more solid, think of quite solid toothpaste, and then you have to rub those in your palms like you do with more liquidy foam cleansers.
But yeah you totally answered your own question lol!

A cleanser is something which just cleanses your skin (like soap cleans your hands or whatever) and a scrub has tiny granules in it (St. Ives has ground up apricot pit for example), and exfoliates your face. A cleanser alone will not exfoliate your face. If you don't want to use a scrub though you can just use a soft washcloth or a microfibre cloth with your regular cleanser.

I just used cleanser AND scrub before - I cleansed first to get rid of makeup etc and then used a scrub to exfoliate. I find that whatever moisturiser/treatment you put on after you scrub sinks into your skin better/more quickly than normal.

You can also get cleanser which have scrubby beads in them too - like a 2-in-1 shampoo for your exfoliating needs! I don't really like these though as the scrubby parts are generally not enough.

haha I felt really stupid asking all that but I was curious..

thanks for clearing all that up though :)

I use a cream cleanser,I really love it.I do a scrub about once per week.I mix it in with my cleanser so that keeps it quick. Then use a tonic/toner and then moisturizer. My moisturizer is actually working as a primer for MU.

LOL @ Laura! Got it now?! Everyone pretty much answered the question.

Lol don't feel stupid, how are people supposed to learn things if they don't ask questions? That's what I always say when someone judges me for asking a so-called 'stupid' question. We can't just automatically know things!
