Hey, this is an eyebrow guide by *me*. I've just compiled some info. I have learned from here and there (some from MUT!) and I thought I would share it. :icon_smil

Eyebrows

General Tips

-Be careful about distance between brows and the length.

-Always pluck in between brows and underneath. (never above!)

-Most elegant eyebrow is elongated, clean, and simple.

-If you can't find the right brow powder, use a matte eyeshadow.

-Keep your eyebrows looking natural as you accentuate them.

**Before plucking, waxing, or threading make sure your skin is clean and dry**

Waxing

-Go with a clean, fresh face.

-Apply a toner afterwards.

-Moisturizer can be soothing.

1. Wax every 4-6 weeks (or sooner, if you find they are becoming unruly)

2.Pluck/trim as needed.

3.Color and style daily.

Brush- Comb hairs up so you can see how long they are. Hold brush to top.

Comb- Hold the scissors above your eyebrows at a slight angle and trim hairs that are longer than the rest.

Tweezing

-Maintain a waxing by trimming and plucking weekly.

-Work with natural brow shape and work in porportion with your face.

-Don't force an arch where there is naturally a straight line.

-A straight line on a subtle upward angle, that finishes in a soft arch over the outer third of the eye.

-Pluck after a warm shower/bath. (less painful)

-Never pluck above the brow.

-Pluck any straggles or out-of-place hairs.

-Stop a few times and look squarely into the mirror.

-Afterwards, cleanse with only warm water.

-30 minutes afterwards, apply a moisturizer.

5 steps to accurate tweezing

1.Brush hair in the direction of hair growth.

2.Isolate the hair you are about to tweeze.

3.Tweeze in the direction of hair growth.

4.Pull one hair at a time.

5.Pull gently and smoothly, making sure not to yank.

Coloring

Pencil

-Your guide is yoru tear duct at the inner corner of your eye to where your brows should end.

-Keep brow pencil extremely sharp. (sharpen after 3rd stroke)

-Take your pencil under the brow and follow brow line to edge.

-Don't fill the gap solid with pencil strokes. Brow hairs are not naturally solid, there's tiny spaces between the hairs.

-Use short, quicky, feathery strokes.

-Don't press too hard.

-Soften with clean, cotton bud.

Brow Powder

You need to use brow powder to mimic the height of your brows. It also adds texture and the illusion of natural hairs.

-Use powder sponge to press some powder on top to soften line from using pencil, if needed.

-Dip your eyeshadow brush into the powder.

-Lightly and gently tap your brush over the pencil strokes.

-Dust and take care not to sweep on surrounding skin.

-This shouldn't be solid-just barely visible.

-Soften any harsh edges with the brush.

Set

Set your eyebrows with either brow gel or brow wax.

-Brush entire brows. It will act as hairspray and they'll stay in place all day.

-You can also use hairspray as a substitute. Just put some on a toothbrush and apply to brows.

And that's it! 2 things I did not cover: threading and brow mousse. These I don't use, so I didn't research them! :satisfied:

Thank you! Very informative. As a person formerly with a unibrow, I can honestly say these are great tips!

I used to be an esthetician and did brows quite often. Although growing up I was always told to never pluck above the brow, in esthy school we were told differently. Sometimes you have to pluck/wax above the brow to get the desired shape. Personally, I don't pluck above my brow, but I do wax there every few weeks. I find I get a much cleaner shape when I do so. If there are hairs above your brow that just don't go with the shape you want, I say get rid of 'em! :)

I agree xeniba-if I have a straggle up there, I will pluck it. It is just a cardinal rule, so I thought I should include it. When getting eyebrow waxings, they always ask if you want it shaped along the top as well, so it's always an option.

I completely agree, I don't think MU application should have hard and fast rules. This eyebrow rule is one I never stick to. :satisfied:

Oookay, so it's more of a "guideline"... because I always do above my brow otherwise my eyebrows look odd and mishapen.

oh,this post is so GREAT!!! There are lots of rules that I didnt ever notice. Thanks for ur sharing.

Great tips, thanks for sharing!!! I am in esthy school and eyebrows can be tricky. I wish I could go to the Damone Roberts ( The Eyebrow King, www.damoneroberts.com) workshop and see how he does it. He makes doing eyebrows look so easy.

Thanks for posting. Awhile go I learned about combing the hairs upward and trimming and that made a world of difference for me.
