I needed a cheap daily facial cleanser. I grabbed Clean and Clears deep cleansing cream. The first day my skin felt amazing and my chest which is usually covered in red irritated bumps was so smooth. Now though my forehead and a lot of small bumps. A couple people have told me its normal when using a new cleanser because its detoxing the skin. Is this true?

Is this true? i have heard that it takes up to two weeks to tell if a new product is going to react well with your skin. personally, if i don't see results after 3-4 uses i usually move on. i say if you think it's making your problem worse it's time for plan b. jmho~

Sometimes that happens, but I wouldn't say it always does. If you like it though, give it a bit more time and see what happens. If you continue breaking out, I'd try something else.

Personally, I couldn't touch Clean and Clear with a ten foot pole. My skin's far too sensitive, and I have to take the gentle approach, all the way [Relief is worth any amount of money for me: I used to even get a painful skin reaction from plain water!]. I think the reason I don't get this kind of reaction from my cleansers at all [even when I first started], is that its pretty impossible to react to something so super-gentle!

As for your bumps, different cleansers will give you different reactions. Bumps happen for all sorts of reasons: sensitivity, over-scrubbing, breakouts, clogged pores, allergies... We can't explain this for you, I'm afraid! If you're feeling any pain, burning, heat, etc from your cleanser, then you might need to go for something a little more gentle.
