I am getting really frusterated with my skin, ughh
frown.gif
, & I dont know what to do with it anymore! The sides of my face are so extremely dry & rough I could put on super thick moisturizer 3 times a day & it still would be dry. But.. my cheeks & T-zone can get SO oily & shiny - esp in this hot weather it is horrible.

.. I use a really creamy AHA moisturizer every night, but I try to only use it on the really dry part of my face - on the rest of my face I use a diff moisturizer, it’s not oil free - should I use an oil free kind tho?

I am also looking for a mattifier & if anyone has a recommendation.. (Nothing came up when I did a search). Some of them are so expensive & I don’t even know if they work good (Smashbox Anti Shine). But the Mary Kay Oil Mattifier is cheaper… Isnt there anything in a drugstore that would help? (I want to use some type of gel/liquid since I’ve got a ton of powders & rice powder to help with shine.)

If anyone with combination skin could tell me what they do.. That would help a ton.

i m sorry i dunno much about it but oh i totally feel you pain i have combo as well and its like 80% humidity here in hk everyday with 30 degree C. . all you can get from this weather is enlarged pores on cheeks nose and forhead plus dry skin on the side i got so frsutrated too i wanan kill myself , Again.

i use st ives collagen elastin facial moisturizer and its a bit too much for me but that sbecoz its humid here in hk and maybe it d be right for dryer placde like US. i also use joseristine h2o hi-liposome gel. this has been tried by many ppl from teenage fds of mine to my fds mother whos 50. they all love it and it wont clog pores even for me. so maybe u can try it.oh its oil free too and VERY little can cover your whole face.

I hear ya about the humidity girl! It's only 10 AM here & its already at like 70% humidity..

I looked up that joseristine gel & got this , lol. Maybe it would be like the same as the pore perfector from Clinique?

I swear to God a couple more hot days & I am just gonna go crazy & spend like $200 on a ton of different stuff to help with all this excessive oil! (What sucks is that I've spent near that much to also help for the dry part of my skin..)

hello, i have combo skin and i went to a wedding with small white pimples on my forehead, chin and jaw. allow me to vent as i was (still am) very frustrated by it.

i love Nuxe crème fraîche de beauté light (i had a sample), but the price is killing me so right now, i prefer buying other things i need and try a cheaper moisturizer.

what i love is LRP effaclar (for the t zone) and LRP hydraphase for my cheeks. they're not that expensive compared to drugstore moisturizers and higher brands like Clarins or Nuxe.

i don't know what to do about my nose (it's shiny in the middle of the day), i have that Garnier Pure moisturizer (blue packaging) which was supposed to mattify my skin, except it gave me more pimples and blackheads and doesn't mattify my skin at all.

the only moisturizer that i found average for summer is Hyseac from Uriage (do you have that brand? it's a thermal water based brand like La Roche Posay). it contains an anti-pollution screen. alas, it doesn't do much about mattifying your t zone, i found it help disguise some redness and even the skin a bit. the anti-pollution screen though is good, it makes your skin glowing, and living in Paris i liked when i washed my skin at night to see it was maybe less dirty looking.

I would definitely start using an oil free moisturizer in your t-zone. You might also think about laying off the AHA moisturizer on your cheeks. It could be contributing to your dryness. There was just another thread about mattifiers and the Biore one was mentioned a couple times as being good. hth

haha dont spend the money i m as helpless as u r here. sometimes its right to listen to my mom she said doing nth is better than everything . so maybe we just have to keep our rountine as usual and wait til winter we r young sth goes wrong on our face might grow back to normal if we dont damage it. now i m not using any scrub and mask in hope of letting the nature to do its course. if not there is always laser resurfacing. i think we can save all the money for the mositurizer and stuff and do it for once then start taking care of it all over again. at least we ghot it nice for a while ! i m planning on doing it coz i cant stand enlarged pores.

i tried coconut oil on my face yesterday (after a mask), and today. it's great my cheeks don't feel dry at all, but it doesn't really help to mattify your skin of course.

savvy_lover is right, though. i think at some poitn you have to wait so your products can work.

i also have combo skin, my dry patches are around my lips and my oily is my cheeks and t-zone. i highly recommend using Mark "the matter the better" liquid mattifier at least once a day to start iwth, it is the only one that works for me also for dryness i have just started using avon 24 hour long lasting hydrating cream only on my dry areas and my skin has improved some in just a week or so of use. their both inexpensive and very worth a shot. also mark has an oil free hydrating lotion thats good too, find an avon/mark rep asap-hope this helps~aloha~deb

Nope, looks like you can only buy it in France- it sounds good tho, I need something to disguise redness too.

The AHA moisturizer was actually recomended to me by a derm & it has done WONDERS - the improvement of dryness before & after is amazing, but it is deff still dry; just not as much as before. I'll look at the Biore mattifier.

Thank you.. I will check out that Mark liquid mattifier. Is that Avon hydrating cream really thick? I need very thick/creamy moisturizers on my dry areas.

sounds like your skin is in a bit of a tizzy right now. have you ever thought about visiting a spa for a facial? i think you would be a really good candidate. try to find one that uses dermalogica products. i think you'll be pleased and find a product line you can work with to normalize your skin. good luck and let us know what you decide!

that's too bad. there's Nuxe (my favorite) but of course, the price isn't the same.

Combination skin is the worst, I sympathize! It sounds like you have an extreme case - maybe you should try to balance the skin's pH. It might help because it sounds like the skin is confused. I would definitely switch to an oil-free moisturizer, at least for the t-zone. As for the dry areas...maybe they need to be hydrated from the inside out (the deeper layers of skin).
