Okay so my hair is medium brown and I just purchased a light brown color from the Revlon Colorsilk Luminista line. My roots however have grown out and my roots are a light brown color naturally. So basically roots light colored brown/almost dirty blonde and rest of my hair is medium brown. Now I have a question concerning the timing. How long should I leave the color on my roots and on my other hair? I looked at the instructions but they say to leave the coloring on my hair for 5 minutes only and 25 minutes on my roots. I cannot see how that will work seeing as my hair is med brown and 5 mins is way too short for the color to take I'd imagine. The instructions that stated I should leave it on for 5 minutes, is however for "recoloring hair" but I think they mean recoloring hair with the SAME hair color as before. So what would you recommend?? I really want my roots and the rest of my hair to match.

Thanks in advance!!

Oh and please don't say go to a salon. In a perfect world, yeah I'd go to a salon BUT I can't right now.

Since you're roots are light brown, I'm guessing that light brown is your natural color, which you are trying to return to? If that's the case, then you want to reverse the instructions and leave the color on your hair for 25 minutes and the roots for 5 minutes. Or, if the Revlon color is the same shade or darker than your roots, you could color all of your hair including the roots for 25 minutes, which would be easier. BTW - I've never gone to a salon for color. There are much better things to spend your money on. And I've had good results with Revlon Colorsilk.
