hi

i'd like to know how coffee affects the skin i mean will it make my skin tired looking or is it good for me with the caffeine and all.

there have been some claims that coffee actually tightens the skin when used as a topical, as in an infusion added to a cream base. it's used as an ingredient alot of the new spa bars, etc. no evidence of the same claims when you drink it, though.

Drinking coffee makes my skin tired looking and dried out. Don't know about anything about using it as an ingredient in skincare.

i heard that caffeine dehydrates you...which means it would make your skin appear very dry...but not positive though. but i love my coffee so i drink it anyway! LOL

Coffee can act as a diuretic (makes you pee frequently).

So I guess it can make you feel dehydrated.

I drink a few coffees daily and I don't feel dehydrated at all.

You are only affected, if you drink a large amount of coffee (+5 cups).

I doubt it has much of an affect on skin when you drink it, but it tightens and firms when applied topically. As far as food, I don't think there is much of a correlation to your skin, but a good diet always makes you glow!

i grew up in a household where my dad cant drink cafine (heart problems) so my family never drank it. i barely did until i moved to WA (im orginally from the midwest).

i dont drink it often, but ive noticed my skin likes to get a little more dry than normal. how people in this state can drink like 3 cups a day of it is beyond me.

i do know that its apprently used as a diaraetic by some people.

Hi,

It does exactly that (dehydrates you). I've haven't had coffee in about 2 weeks now.

I'm pretty sure that coffee contains a high level of antioxidants, which is good for skin.

Supposedly good for skin; thats what the cosmetic companies like to promote anyway. There really has been no clinical proof that antioxidants have a benefit to your skin, though in 80 years we may see the results of lifelong antioxindant skincare ,

thanks everybody yeah i think it makes the skin drier i just started drinking coffee and i have realized my skin getting drier i guess thats good if you have really oily skin and i do realize that i am peeing alot more than before

In the Jan 07 issue of Allure, there is an article about CoffeeBerry. I just skimmed through the article but it talks about antioxidants extracted from the fruit of the coffee plant.

coffee and sodas will dehydrate you which in turn will dry out your skin. You're suppose to drink at least half your weight in ounces of water every day (so if you are 120 lbs you drink 60oz of water). My massage therapist said that if you drink a cup of coffee or soda, you should drink an additional three glasses of water to balance out the dehydrating effects.

Caffeine can dehydrate you, but it really depends on the amt you are drinking per day. If you think it's affecting your skin, just drink more water.

I drink one cup of coffee a day and a bottle of water shortly after. I'm 44 yrs old and don't have any problem with dry skin.

I was watching this makeover the other day and the makeup artist said that if your going to drink coffee make sure to drink at least 2 glasses of water afterwards.

i don't drink coffee at all. although my parents both are coffee addicts, they forbig me to drink it. but it doesn't stop my skin from looking so bad. aah !

my mom who has been drinking atleast 4 cups everday for years, has alot of wrinkles and very, very dry skin.
