I have a small bottle of pure natural cocoa oil. It had no additives, nothing. I don't know much about coconut oil, except that it is good for dry skin (found that when I searched the boards).

So my questions are - can I mix it in body cream, moisturizer... ? Or is it better if I just use it as it is?

Can I use it on my face since my skin is mixed and acne/blackhead prone?

Any additional info about coconut oil would be more than welcome. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I believe that it would be great to add to your body moisturiser, but I would not apply it to the face since you have combo skin.

I know people who apply coconut oil to their hair to make it shiny and kind of like a conditioner. But I don't really like using coconut oil simply because the smell bothers me.

I love the smell. I also like the smell of olive oil, which some people hate.

Hey everyone, this is my first post. I'm so excited to join this board.

I love coconut oil for my hair. It makes it so soft. I never thought about using it on my face though, some say it's potentially pore clogging.

welcome to MUT, patsluv!

maja, does coconut oil smell like anything else coconut?

The one that I have without additives doesn't smell so annoyingly sweet as do for example body lotions with coconut smell. It's more raw kind of sweet with a bit of sour in it - if that makes sense; my smell explaining abilities are so bad lol

Maja, maybe this link could help.

I have the complete ingredients dictionary, I'll check it out for you later.

Maja,I think coconut oil is comedogenic, but it would be very good to add to body lotions if you have dry skin and also it is healthy to cook with it-much more than normal oil or olive oil.I've been wanting to get it here, but it's so expensive. Is this really one oil or is it more in butter shape?

Thanks Leony!

Polona, it's oil, but it gets buttery on low temperatures. My bf brought me this one from Malaysia; from a coconut farm. Where do they sell it in Slo?

Some health food stores-like Kalček or I think in Sanolabor aswell. It is very cheap in Austria in Hofer-but in our Hofers they don't have it(yet)

Maja, Polona is right, Coconut oil is considered comedogenic ingredient and could cause skin rashes. So you better use it as a body moisturizer instead of face one.

I read it from Milady's Skincare & Cosmetic Ingredients dictionary book, Kim.

Thanks everyone. I'll just used it as a body moisturiser, better safe than sorry. I've got enough action going on on my face already :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Once a month I condition my hair with coconut oil cos i can't stand the texture it creates any more frequently.

If you are distilling your own, save the milk as its great for cooking curries/boiling rice etc.

I agree with you Kim. Same with my grandmother, she used to love this stuff and always use it as a facial moisturizer but it was pure coconut oil and she never had any skin problems from using it. It is difficult to get pure coconut oil these days though. I heard that by consuming pure coconut oil could help for internal cleansing, heal acne and also great for pregnant woman.

When I'm pregnant someday, I'm going to get one huge bottle of pure coconut oil and take at least one teaspoon everyday lol.
