Hey guys, first post! I have pretty dry skin ( especially in the winter) but also large pores. I started using Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser a few weeks ago, at first it worked pretty well, but then my skin started getting really dry. I don't know if its the cleanser or the fact that it's getting colder every day. So I started using lotion on my face after washing it in the a.m., but now my pores are totally clogged and I'm breaking out! ( I usually only get a pimple every few months or so.) Question : any suggestions for a cleanser that wont totally dry out my skin OR a lotion/moisturizer that wont make me break out ? Also, what's a good pore minimizer?

I'd say your #1 concern is to stop drying out your skin and use a good, gentle salicylic acid product to help clear up your skin. I don't know if you want a drugstore brand or a department store brand. I'll tell you what's been working for me: Biotherm's Biosource cleansing milk for dry skin, biosource toner for dry skin, and their Acnopur line's moisturizing treatment gel (applied only over my breakouts). I used to sell Biotherm, though, so I'm kind of an addict. I like milk cleansers because they don't leave my face feeling at all stripped. I apply them to dry skin, then use a warm, damp washcloth to wipe off the cleanser.

I've wanted to try Nivea's Gentle Cleansing Cream and Moisturizing Toner, but Biotherm's working well so I haven't yet.

Sometimes just overdrying your skin is enough to make it break out and just by stopping that you can clear it up. Good luck!

I would say md formulations skincare line its a bit expensive but its good if u dnt have lots of acne it has glycolic acid in it it exfoliates removes dead skin cells andd also helps with poress and there moistures r beautiful to or neostarta for a cheaper skincare line der products contains glycolic acid to hope that helped

I love Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish.

It has moisturising ingredients that leaves your skin soft and supple. It also deep cleanes without stripping your skin. It's never made me break out and I have sensitive skin. Read about it at www.lizearle.com

I love Dove's non-foaming face wash and Dove original bar(soap). I also have been using St. Ives Apricot radiance cream cleanser. When I have more $, I love ROC Purif AC/Neostrata sensitive skin cleanser.

My skin is pretty dry and will get worse as the weather gets colder. Since I have no problems with large pores or oil I am going to assume that creams for your face that I use will be too heavy. I think for cleansing - you should consider Dove Beauty Bar - it works SO well for dry skin and does not clog pores or cause you to break out. Cetaphil is good too -however - many people feel this doesn't really clean their skin. I used to mix a small amount of baking soda once a week to cetaphil to get it working.

Another option that I have not tried but is highly recommended are cleansing oils. Sounds strange but cleansing oils dry off immediately and are not greasy but they moisturize and clean very well.

I love Olay Daily Cleansers for Dry Skin--they are pads you add water to and they foam up and then remove everything, including all eye/face makeup, leaving skin feeling absolutely clean but never dry.

I like Satin, it's a moisturizing antimicrobial cleanser. So it helps to cleanse your face really well without leaving you dry.

i would try ponds pristine clean, i have been using off and on for a while now , and honestly its hasnt broke me out YET. so give it a shot, its like 6 bucks. i too have the same problem as you. my skin is dry and my pores on my cheeks are way large. when i get some spending money , estee lauder has a cleansing cream or milk, toner, lotion for dry skin and they have the stuff in a pump for pores and stuff. i really want to try it out. if you can afford it , id say try it. i know EVENTUALLY I WILL!

I use DHC cleansing oil for my very dry skin and I love it. When I do have congested pores on my nose I use a BHA product there.

I'm dry skinned here. And oohh Welcome by the way!

I use Oil of Olay's foam face wash for sensitive skin. Then I use the Nivea toner for dry skin ( helps with pimples) anf then the Olay complete day time moisturer w/spf 15.

So I would say...

Clean

tone

moisturize

no matter what .

best of luck and welcome again!
