Can anyone recommend a good cleanser and toner? I have dry, sensitive, skin with an oily t-zone. I have never used a toner before but a friend mentioned that it would probably help my skin if I started using one, but I'm not sure what to look for. Any help would be great.

I use proactiv cleanser and toner. Both are gentle and good for sensitive skin.

It's great for both the oily and dry areas in the "oh so wonderful combination skin" I would stay away from alcoholic toners if you have senstive skin. In my opinion, a toner should do some exfoliating as well as a cleanser backup. Try to find ones that are alcohol free and contain a bit of BHA. Ones that have worked best for me are Clinique's Mild Toner (0.5% BHA) and Paula's Choice Salicylic Acid Liquid (1% or 2% BHA) (www.cosmeticscop.com). I switched to the latter since it's a bit stronger at exfoliation and preventing droppings from the 'pimple fairy.'

Neither are irritating but if you're new to BHA, maybe start with Clinique's.

The best toner I've ever used is Apple Cider Vinegar toner:

1 cup ACV (Bragg brand is my favorite)

1 cup water (I prefer to use VERY strongly brewed green tea in lieu of "plain" water)

10 uncoated aspirin (as BHA)

10 drops Lemon essential oil

5 drops Lavender Oil

1/4 - 1/2 cup Witch Hazel

I keep this in a deep- rown glass bottle, purchased at my local health food store. This prevents sunlight from deteriorating the essential oils.

I've been using this for a year now, and my skin has NEVER looked better.

COOOL! I'm assuming the aspirin dissolves?

I have dehydrated/sensitive/acneic/oily t-zone skin. Recently, I started using Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and Clinique's mild toner. I only use moisturizer in my eye area. I have significantly reduced the irritation to my skin.

Good luck!

Toner is not necessay since most of the toners contain at least 80% of water and will evaporate anyway. Since you have dry and sensitive skin, I do not recommond proactiv for you since it might be too irritating for you. You can try Purpose gentle cleasing wash, it would clean your face well but it is gentle enough for your sensitive skin. It got great reviews on MUA.
