I just translated this article from Icelandic, hope it's ok:
Cleaning your face
Clean and fresh skin is the base for a beautiful face – get used to cleaning your skin in the right way and it will glow with health.
The best thing to do for your skin is to clean it religously. If it’s done regularly – in the evening and morning – you’ll remove dirt, sweat, makeup, dead skin and bacteria that cover the skin, clog pores, cause fatspots and blackheads and make the skin dry, fat and patchy. By cleaning your skin you also help it renewing faster, causing it to become radiant and beautiful. Clear skin is also more receptive for mousturizer, toner and other skin products. Here are some tips to get clean and fresh skin:
Before you start you should wash your hands and pull your hair away from the face. In the instructions we talk about cleansing cream but the method is the also the same for cleansing gel, foaming face cleanser or cleansing piece. If the cleansing cream is heated a bit in the palm it becomes easier to apply on the face.
First step:
Spread a very small amount of cleansing cream on the cheeks. Stroke upwards towards the hair root (where makeup often accumulates). You should stay away from the sensitive eye are but don’t forget the neck and the area behind the ears.
Second step:
Massage the cleansing cream carefully into the skin on the face and on the nick with your fingertips. That way you untie stuck dirt plus the massaging stimulates the bloodflow and increases oxigen flow to the upper layer of the skin so it becomes healthy and fresh in sight.
Third step:
Dip a soft washcloth in warm water and squeeze the water well out. Then stroke the cloth over the skin with light, circular motions. That way you will get away the dirt that might still be left on the skin.
Fourth step:
To guarantee that all cleansing cream is off the face (leftover cream can clog pores and cause spots) stroke over the face with cotton balls that have been wet in cold (but not ice cold) water. This also works like a refreshing toner.
Good and bad:
Good: To wash the cleansing cream completely off – so the skin can absorb the mousturizer
Bad: To remove cleansing cream with a tissue – it can hurt the skin
Good: To wash facecloths regularly – else they can carry bacteria to the skin
Bad: To rub the skin too hard – it ruins the skins natural protection.
Good: To clean the skin on the neck – it’s too sensitive for regular soap
Bad: To use piping hot or icecold water – it can cause vessel attrition
