Help- my son (11) get terrible chapped lips and spreads to his chin. I have tried moisturizers, lip balms, hydrocortizone and telling him to STOP licking . Usually one of these will help but this tome it has been so stubborn. Any suggestions? Thanks

I don't know if this would be too drying, but maybe you could put some of that stuff on his face that people put on their fingers to keep them from biting their nails. It tastes really horrible. Or you could put a thick layer of vaseline or aquaphor on so it feels slippery and nasty to lick.

My mom (a nurse) says that chapped lips is a sign of dehydration. Make sure he gets more liquids in addition to using a lip balm...

Thanks, sound like I should try vaseline. Although other posts say vaseline should not be used on the face????

I Think vaseline is great..Or you could try the natural shea butter I use it and it great..

Please don't put hydrocortizone on his face especially on a childs delicate skin.. it eventually thins out the skin so it will never clear up.. you have to be careful with steriod creams. Try vaseline or e45 cream :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> x
