Hi everyone -

I'm new to the site and had a question that so many of us unfortunately deal with - and that is cellulite. Does anyone have any good tips/products/remedies out there for the cellulite that likes to stay on the backs of your thighs and remain - despite exercise and eating right?? Any help would be great - a big THANK YOU in advance on this!

Cheers,

La Nina

I honestly don't know of any myself. Check out the skin care forum. You can also do a search (click here) and try to see if anything comes up without going through tons of pages searching

"Eating Right" involves more than just eating the correct number of calories. I believe that whatever junk food you think you are hiding by eating in secret is displayed to the world on your body. Cellulite being one of them. Now I don't have cellulite, and I have never had it. Neither does my mother, my sisters, or many of my aunts. Some of it obviously has to be genetic, BUT, there are certain things I just don't consume. One of them is, DAIRY!!! Never was forced to consume it as a child, and I don't consume it now. I sincerely believe it is poisionous in the body. I will never make my future children consume the stuff, so that they can have the chance to grow up and be cellulite free like me.

I really think that more women ought to lay off the dairy products, and they will see some of their induced cellulite go away. It's a "secret" that high fashion models have followed this whole time.

really? thats so interesting. i never heard of a correlation between dairy products and cellulite. i would love to hear more if you have some more info or something...!!

Just curious, what is in dairy that causes it? (I am scared to drink milk now.. lol)
I just had a glass of milk too. gah

It's definitely genetic because even my friend that is like 5'9", 100 pounds and built like a supermodel has it. I have it, but for months I've been using L'Oreal Sublime Slime Anti-Cellulite treatment, and I swear it's worked. That or it's because I lost a bunch of weight and it might not be as noticeable anymore. But I think it worked. I've been out of it for like 2 weeks now and I swear I see it coming back. Gotta buy some ASAP!

Some creams do work. They don't do miracles but it's not like they're completely pointless. I used dove firming cream and had some results. You also have to exercise and drink plenty of water. Also cut down on caffeine as it makes the problem worse.

Yeah, and stay away from diet soda. This is another culprit that just doesn't seem right. There's something in it that actually basically just sits in your fat cells - even though it's diet. I basically stopped drinking soda now though. Once in awhile I'll have it if I go out but that's about it.

Theres not too much you can do about it..sorry! Most people have it. The best thing is to eat healthy, drink lots of water, exercise and cut down on too much caffeine.

Im using L'oreal perfect slim atm which is suppose to firm the skin and be a ' cellulite buster'

I think it has reduced the appearance of it but not completely ridded it! Bit pricey tho. But a cheaper moisturier is something like palmers cocoa butter!

xxx

i agree with NoxiousByProxy, cut down on your dairy i read awhile back that cheese gives it you so yeah less dairy and cut out on all processed foods. Also do dry skin brushing, exfoliate with a loofah in circular motions, massage the area for as long as you can in circular motions, buy a good firming lotion and drink plenty of water to flush out all those toxins.

Seems it is a mostly genetical thing so if you are cellulite free it is a blessing as most woman have it to some degree. I have it and i hate it, so i watch what i eat, i stay away from soda and dairy and caffeine and fried foods, i use creams/gels (both expensive and cheap) i exfoliate i exercise everyday (sundays included) i take supplements (grapeseed, ginko biloba, etc) and it's still there.

I can't honestly say anything has worked for me in terms of diminishing the lumps BUT i fight it anyway because i figure it would be a lot worse if i didn't do anything...so the fight is on!!

The lactose in milk is an irritant and allergin. Everybody's adult bodies produce mucous to help handle this undigestible agent. There are some of you out there that will say, "But I am not lactose-intolerant." Being tolerant/intolerant is almost a mute point since everybody's body handles it the same way... it is just the degree of discomfort that is felt afterwards that leads people to classify themselves as tolerant/intolerant.
I think the American Dairy Ad Council is really tooting its own horn. The whole "2 glasses a Day" theme suddenly jumped to "24 oz in 24 hours" when dairy consumption slid even moreso than it was before. I don't ever drink/consume milk and my bone density is superbly excellent. One of the best they've seen. I really believe exercise and a little bit of sunlight (Vit D) goes so much farther than drinking glassfuls of milk ever can for a woman's bones.

I don't have any *scientific info*, but I do have my observations. I am from Minnesota, and I have seen that Minnesotans, Iowans, and Wisconsinites, probably consume the most dairy of anybody in the country (we have pageants called "Princess Kay of the Milky Way" for crying out loud! LMAO!) A lot of these ladies can be tall and thin (mostly Scandinavian, some German), but they have the most godawful cellulite I have ever seen in my life. They are like sculptures. I've never seen anything else quite like it. Other places in the country where there is not so much dairy consumption, there are really heavy people, but somehow, they are lacking the quantity of cellulite that I see back home.

Garnier anti-cellulite roller gave me amazing results in about a week ,it is eay to apply and very very cheap!I have become almost cellulite -free and I am going to use it all year round

Phyllis, this is really intersting. While I don´t want to completely cut out diary products from my diet, I agree it´s not the best thing for everybody.

If I look at my diet I have a high diary intake (not unusual over here since we have lots of farms on the countryside). I eat cereal (with whole milk or fruit yoghurt) every day or at least every other day. some type of cheese at least 2 times a week. Also Sour cream about once a week. Chocolate occasionally.

what do you eat INSTEAD of diary products? I know I could eat Soya yoghurt, but we only have like 2 brands here that offer this and as far as I remember I didn´t like either one. What do you suggest to substitute diary products?

P.S: Since you mentioned the example of those US states with a high diary intake. Over here I have seen mild cellulite (even on skinny girls) a lot too, and we for sure have a high diary intake (but then again a lot of us here eat with a certain european sensibility, but we still few vegetarians/vegans and whatever other healthy ways of eating there are)) Of course it could be linked to other foods too but it does make some sense.

I also believe that your food is processed less than the US? I bet processed food has a lot to do with it.

btw what exactly is processed food? sprayed vegetables, fruits? and just anything chemically added to food to make it taste/look better?

Another thing about dairy: cows are pumped with drugs to enhance production and treat or prevent disease and it all goes to the milk they produce. Same with poultry and meat, so you end up consuming part of those drugs too.

Things that cause cellulits:

1) Genetic (some people are blessed, but most people have some degree of cellulite)

2) Fat (the reason why women have cellulite and most men don't is because we accumulate fat in areas where they don't, like the hips, thighs...)

There is no scientific evidence that dairy products cause cellulite...
