I have had dry skin in the past few years. (Before that, I was too young to take note of what type of skin I had.) During winter, it gets so dry that I have to smear my face with moisturizer. About a week ago, I noticed that I need less and less moisturizer...And I only need it around my nose and mouth area. When I got up from bed this morning and looked in the mirror, my face was oily! This has never happened before. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Is it because of the weather that is warming up, or is my skin type changing from dry to oily? Does a person's skin type ever change?

Hi! I would say it depends on the season. At least it does for me. I still use moisturizer all over my face. I just use a lighter one for summer ( it also has a spf). Then for winter, or night time I use a heavy cream. Although I do have more dry skin.

It also depends on the climate where you live. It is a pain to move for me because of that! lol! I am always having to adjust my beauty regimn (Sp?). When I moved to Nor Cal from So Cal I had to get a stronger conditioner, and also wear more hydrating lotions than I had been wearing orignially.

Hope I didn't go over borad there...lol!

I would say it could be the weather, mine is definitley more oily in the summer months (not sure how hyper oily can get oilier, but it does). Or you may want to look at your moisturizer for the summer months, you may want to get a lighter moisturizer and see how you fare.

Oh and with time....yes our skin type will change. Usually as we get older though, most peoples skin becomes more dry....not mine, but that's the norm is when you get older it does change. Hormones, stress, diet, environment are all factors in how your skin behaves as well.

My skin has definitely changed over time. It was oily in my teens/early 20's, combination through my late 20's, and now mostly dry--except in summer, when the(relative)humidity makes it get a little more oily. And it is also definitely drier in the winter.

most certainly your skin type can change. between the environment and the other things we go through (cycles, menopause, pregnancy) we are always changing. my skin was normal until i was 40 years old! now it's doing it's own thing, and sometimes i'm not even sure what that is! lmao

Yes it's all depending on the weather and hormonal changes.

I used to have normal skin before I turned 25, after that my skin changed to oily and now to combination lol.

me too. i used to be oily and now i am combo.

it depends on the weather as well. in summer, if you you have oily skin, use less moisturizer or a lighter one altogether. i love epicuren's aloe vera.

i agree. i used to have healthy, normal skin..and now i'm more on the combo/oily side. i've honestly had to stop using moisturizer. it doesn't benefit my skin at all, it just makes it oilier.

many factors can change skin type:

age, hormones, weather, and other stuff i can't remember
