Q: Can I really change the size of my pores?
A: You can keep pores from appearing larger and make them appear smaller, but according to Dr. Howard Sobel, New York City dermatologist and founder of DDF skincare, there's no way to permanently shrink your pores. "Pores do not open and close and their size is genetically pre-determined. Pores will become larger if sebum and dead skin accumulate. And once the pore is stretched, it doesn't shrink back. That's why keeping the pore clear is so important. For crystal-clear skin, use an exfoliating cleanser every day, then apply a product containing salicylic acid or retinol, which treat clogged pores by dissolving and gently removing blackheads and embedded sebum.
