I wrote down the top 15 pretentious words and their definitions:

1. Somnolent - sleepy
2. Fetid - stinking
3. Mendacious - untruthful
4. Fatuous - foolish
5. Flagitious - wicked, flagrant
6. Neonate - newborn
7. Behest - command, firm request
8. Bawd - prostitute
9. Gourmand - lover of food, glutton
10. Supernal - divine, heavenly
11. Taciturn - shy, reserved
12. Palmy - glorious, prosperous
13. Alopecia - baldness
14. Execrate - detest
15. Jactitation - boasting

I also wrote down the name of several, historically important figures in the field of Microbiology:
Nicholas Appert - A young French man who, during the rule of Napoleon, was awarded 12,000 franks for developing a more effective way of preserving food. Heated food in champagne bottles for 6-7 hours. Reduced bacteria greatly making the food last a lot longer.

Anton Van Leeuwenhoek - Praised for being the 'father of microbiology.' Best known for his improvement and development on the microscope. Here's what HIS microscope looked like:
