i want to start buying MAC but im really intimidated by counters ehehe...so intimidated by the pretty MAC salesladies. this may be a stupid qestion but how do i actually go about buying stuff?/ do i just get whatever i like from the displays (those are just displys rite?) and then give it to them then they'll grab me the ones from the box from the back, or do i just tell them the names of wat i want. sorry this is prolly a stupid question but it's my first time even bying anything from a counter so sorry...i would appreciate advice from you guys. and what would you recommed i get for a first-time MAC buyer. thanks

Well when I go I make a list of what I think I want. Then I look at the displays to make sure. I tell the muas, pay and leave. Some of them are pretty pushy, but thats why I go with my list, so they dont push me into getting something else.

oh so you just hand them your list...that sounds pretty easy...i don't know what i want though and another question if i want to try something can i? my friend told me she just swipes the shadows on her hand but how do i do that. is it ok to jusst put my fingers in there or do they give you something to do that with. sorry so many stupid questions.

why don't you just schedule a makeover, tell them you're new to makeup and you start from there. You may have to buy 40 bucks worth of makeup which is not difficult, may be a foundation and some must have eyeshadows

At counters and freestanding stores, you have to tell them what you want. You can either go in with a list or just look around and find the stuff that you want to purchase. If you go into a CCO or pro store, then you can just pick stuff up and purchase it.

I have opened the Fluidlines and things like that to look at the color, but for testing stuff, I always either ask someone for help or at least grab a q-tip, spatula, etc. from the little "beakers" they have around the store.

Your questions are not dumb ones, by the way. You never know if you don't ask.
